You are not going to die but it's not very smart to not take them as directed!. That is the first step to abuse!.

Here is a link that you should look at!. It's on oxy's and it's the same info your doctor would get if they went on-line!.

I also take them every day for pain due to a spine injury!. But I never take more than is on the bottle!. That's why I have been able to take them for 7-8 years without developing an abuse issue!.

I've been in a pain management program for several years!. I have seen so many good people ruin their lives with oxy's it makes me sick!. Nobody starts off thinking the will have a problem but it happens!.

It's just not a good idea!. If you only have so many for the month you will run out,,,when that happens if you think you hurt now just wait!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you are having pain which is not controlled by your prescribed dose of oxycodone you need to contact the physician who prescribed the medication!. They will either increase the dose, or investigate why you are having increased pain!.

It is not uncommon for people wjo have been on oxycodone for a prolonged period to require an increase in the dose!.

As Chas has suggested, self administration of opiates is the first step in the abuse cycle!. Also you are given one tablet every 4 hours, so they probably provided you with 180 tablets for a one month supply!. If you take more than is prescribed, and find it works better, then you are likely to continue taking the higher amount!. This is the common practice in patients with pain conditions!. This would provide you with enough tablets for 1/2 month instead of the whole month!. Then when you are out, you will need to contact the physician who will be unlikely to refill the opiate due to the restrictions on controlled substances, and the probability that you are abusing the medications!.

In other words, in the long run, if you take more than the prescribed dose, you end up screwing yourself!. Physicians often drop patients who are narcotic abuse risks!.

The physicians do not want you in pain, but you need to follow the instructions!. If they are not working, discuss your needs before making changes to the medications yourself!. It is not purely a matter of safety!. Taking narcotics other than as prescribed is against the law!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
