How does Motrin work?!

Question: How does Motrin work!?
How does it work!? Does it "heal" the thing that causes the pain, or does it just make the brain think the pain isn't there when it still is!?

I have shoulder impingement, and my doctor told me to take Motrin!. I don't want to take it if it's not necessary!. If all Motrin does is just hide the pain when it's still really there then should I take it if I can deal with it!?

ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Motrin is an anti-inflammatory medication!. It is known to reduce inflammatory mediators and it is assumed that its pain-relieving properties are related to that!. But no one knows for sure how Motrin, Naproxen or even Aspirin work to relieve pain!. In your case, the decision to take or not to take Motrin is entirely up to you!. If the pain is bearable and, especially if it's improving on its own, then you might be able to pass on the Motrin!. But if you have a great deal of pain, swelling and restricted range of motion, then a trial of Motrin or Naproxen might be reasonable!. And you needn't be concerned that the Motrin will "hide the pain!." You will have a redcution of pain!. But the pain will still be able to tell you if you are doing something wrong and re-injuring the shoulder!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
