Answers:
ok well the usual time for recovery after your FIRST acl surgery depends on the person, your fitness level now, and how determined you are!. You will be on cruches with a large brace for a minimum of two weeks!. (usually about 3-4weeks!)!. During this period you see a physical therapist and gradually increase the visits for abotu 3 months total!.

-You MUST!! do the at-home exercises! they are very very important! You do them for about 30 minutes a day and they are extremely simple but mean the world to your knee for the future!. You miss like 30% of them and that could mean a ton of arthritus or not full-range of motion in the future!

-You will need to re-learn how to walk again!. sorry to say, but its true and its a weird feeling!.

-You will be able to ride a bike in about a month!. depending on your range of motion at that time!.

If you have any more questions Id be more than happy to answer them!. Whether be about physical therapy, crutches, emotional stress, the pain, the pills, recovering for the sport, etc etc!. email me (see in my profile)

A typical time frame is as follows:
You will be walking with crutches putting as much weight as you can tolerate on the leg from day 1, with a brace to immobilize your knee!. The crutches will be used for 10-14 days!.
You will start physical therapy within 3-7 days after the surgery to initiate exercises to regain motion and strength in the muscles of your thigh, especially the quad!. You will continue with the motion and strengthening phase for 2-3 months, during which time its important to do your home exercises!. You should be walking normal by this time!.
After about 3-4 months you can usually start to do some light jogging and progress towards running, jumping, cutting, etc for the next 2-3 months!.
The earliest anyone ever gets back to sports is 6 months!. It has nothing to do with how strong or athletic you are, the ACL graft needs that amount of time to fully take!. You will be about 80-90% back to normal at that time!. You will need from 1-2 years to get back to 100%!.
You should regain all the motion within 6 months!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
