If you go to a good professional piercer who uses sterile (autoclaved) one time use equipment then yes, it is safe!. However you do have a good chance of chipping a tooth and getting gum damage!. I retired my second one because I was starting to get gum damage, and was glad the third one was taken out when it was (it was an anchor for my tongue split) because it killed at least two of my teeth!.
Pain for the piercing itself - a 1 or 2
Pain the few days after (because of the swelling) - 4 or 5!. While it's swollen it's normal to have a slight lisp!. You can really eat whatever you want to eat but if it starts to hurt then stop eating it!. Really overly spicy and salty foods aren't good ideas for awhile!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, no one is forcing you to!. But it hurts quite a bit, and you have to maintain the wound for a while!. It also doesnt look good on most people, and frankly, its going out of fashion

I don't know how bad it hurts but I know someone who got their tongue pierced but had to take it out because the piercing kept hitting his teeth and it cracked one of them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
