Any tips for getting a good night's sleep?!


Question: Any tips for getting a good night's sleep!?
For the last week or so I've found it hard to get to sleep!. I wake up 4 or 5 times during the night and then get up too early!.

I already go to the gym 3 times a week, and usually go for walks on the other days!.

Anyone got any tips that don't involve sleeping pills!? Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi there, I sympathise, I've had insomnia for 4 months now and have been put on sleeping pills as nothing else works, no matter what anyone recommends, I have tried absolutely everything!. I hope this isn't the case for you and it is temporary thing!. But my GP said make sure you don't exercise too late into the evening as that will have the opposite effect and will keep you awake!. I wouldn't recommend sleeping pills anyway, unless you are completely at the end of your tether, as I was, don't watch tv in bed as this will not help you to get to sleep afterwards, try reading a book, don't use the pc late at night as this stimulates your brain too much, and don't eat too late in the evening either!. All these things should help if this is a temporary sleep problem!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I find that if I do physical exercise before bed makes me sleep allot better, for example a half hour run!. Beeing physically exhausted makes you want to sleep! I guess sex could do the same thing!. Just you need to be in a resting state when you go to bed (Heart rate) !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Besides drink skim milk, maybe you can try for one or two drops lavender essential oil put in your pillow, the smell of lavender give the relaxing effect!.
Try to go to bed at least 1 or 1/2 hour earlier than your usual bed time!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try drinking milk before bed!. Make sure you have a decent comfortable pillow!. Thats always important in getting a good sleep!. I find too that reading before bed really bombs me out!. Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i agree with horsysue, having a warm drink or a warm shower is good because when the body cools itself it relaxes you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

be sure the room is dark
a glass of milk might help--warm
i sleep best if i take a warm-not hot shower before i go to bed
relax by reading

yeah just have a hot glass of milk before bed!. that only don't let you have good sleep but even makes your body energetic in the morning the other day : )Www@Answer-Health@Com

make sure you have some way of winding down/relaxing before you go to bed!. if your mind is too active you won't be able to sleep!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I often find drinking half to three quarters of a bottle of vodka helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
