I answered an almost identical question yesterday, and as long as you are sure you just 'slept 'funny' and don't have a deeper underlying *injury*, then I would try a few things:

1) Make sure you communicate what is going on to your folks, and don't do anything without their consent if you are a minor!.

2) Take 2-3 Advil or Motrin (same thing, just different brand names for Ibuprofen)!. Repeat every 6 hours even if it begins to feel better until after your recital!.

3) Use a combination of ice & heat for 20-30 minutes at a time, applied directly to the area(s) that hurt!.

4) GENTLY roll your shoulder and neck, to stretch the area out - do not 'baby' it at all!.

5) If you have someone to give you a gentle neck and scalp massage, have them to do about 45 minutes after taking the medication!.

6) Tonight before you fall asleep, make sure that you feel relaxed and your body is properly aligned!. Use pillows if necessary!.

Most importantly, feel better and try to relax because stress can create more tension that will make it feel worse!

Good luck with the pain and stiffness and do your best tomorrow!Www@Answer-Health@Com
