Digital blood pressure monitor?!

Question: Digital blood pressure monitor!?
My uncle brought the digital blood pressure monitor to my grams place and tested everyone!.

My sister's blood pressure came to 112 (Systolic) and 51 (Diastolic)!. Based on the table given on the machine, it said the normal range for diastolic would be AT LEAST 60!. My uncle said she lacked blood!. But when we tested her again, it said 42 (Diastolic)!. We tested it 4 times more to confirm it but it kept saying ERROR!.

Anyone knows what this means!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

When you are going to re-take a BP, you need to wait a while to let the blood vessels recuperate!. If you take it in less than a minute on the same arm you took it the first time, you will more than likely get a false reading!.

As far as what this information means, here it is:

The systolic pressure, the top number, refers to the amount of pressure that the heart is exerting against he artery when it is contracting (when it is squeezing)!.

The bottom number, the diastolic pressure, referst to the amount of pressure that the heart is exerting while it is at rest (when it is not pumping)!.

The normal range is 120/80 with a few digits more or less from those two numbers respectively!. However, you must take into consideration that everyone is different when it comes to blood pressure!. Im 6ft tall, and someone else my same height and weight might test differently for a variety of reasons including, gender, medical conditions, how exited or emotional they are etc!. So you shouldn't grow concerned right off the bat unless something is way out there, or a reading is low or high constantly!.

When the diastolic blood pressure drops below sixty, it doesn't mean the person lacks blood, if that were the case you'd be in very serious trouble!. Rather what it means, is that your heart doesn't have to exert as much pressure while it is at rest!. This could be a good thing and is normally seen in young active people!.

Like always, if there are any concerns, take it to a medical doctor who can make an actual diagnosis!. I hope my information helped you and I wish you all good health!.

The person above me seems to be misinformed) He said "The patient must be lying on flat surface with hands on both sides!. Head should not be raised!.

Must be asked to breathe deaply two three times!." The person whose blood pressure is being taken doesn't have to be sitting down!. As a matter of fact there are times when you must stand or sit or lie down or they have you strapped to a table upside down to get a reading!. It all depends on what type of exam you are udnergoing!. Generally, for the sake of taking a BP, you can sit and relax!. Also, the whole thing about taking deep breaths, is all a misconception!. You don't have to do it, and next time you go into the doc's office you will see this for yourself!. There are more things he typed up about that are untrue, but I don't have time to rant on them all!.

Again, hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some digital equipments may show variations!. The best and accurate ones are the mercury!. There are many factors!. The ideal conditions are:

The pressure has to be taken with arms at heart level!.

The patient must be lying on flat surface with hands on both sides!. Head should not be raised!.

Must be asked to breathe deaply two three times!.

Pressure varies in sitting position, standing position, lying position, from left hand to right hand, if taken immediately in succession!.

A minimum 15 digits should be pumped above the normal suystolic, if not the digital machine may show error!. The pressure should normally be checked in the hand closer to heart which is left hand!.

If you have take again the pressure, wait for at least 10 minutes!. The pumping should not be done again and again for one measurement!.

It depends upon the age of sister to say whether the systolic is a good pressure or not!. The ideal pressure would be Diastolic plus age!.

In women and Athelets the Diastolic can hover between 70 and 80!. 51(Diastolic) is certainly low pressure!. She could be suffering from Cardio-vascular disorders like Sinus Bradicardia, Ischaemic diseases, may be arrhthmia if the pulse rate is also very low!. There is a need for her to consult a good doctor!. (In homeopathy if the pulse rate is also low
the patient could be certainly cured with Spigelia 30(she may also have left sided headache here) few doses and Digitalis 30 if necessary)!. It is necessary to consult a doctor and administer medicines on his advise!.

For a rough idea the following may be kept in mind:

Ideal pressure for men : 120/80 or 80+age (80 means 80 to 90)
Ideal pressure for athelets 120/70 or 70+age(70 means 70 to 80)

Ideal pressure for women ( same as atheletes) In some women it is always above 80 diastolic and is not considered abnormal!.

Diastolic 90 and above upto 100 may be considered starting of BP and good to visit a doctor and take his advise!.

above 100 must visit a doctor!.

above 110 need medical intervention!.

Similarly for hypertension Systolic shooting up, even 10 or 15 digits, a doctor should be consulted and proper check up done!.

Closing in of Diastolic and Systolic is also not a good sign and a doctor should be consulted if they are very close!.

with best wishes!.

Some people have lower numbers!.!.!.!.it all depends on what her history of bp has been!. Mine is always low, like 102/48, but that is normal for me and my medical history shows this!. Everyone should have a medical record of their bp so they have a base to go by!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

usually low blood pressure, not the lack of blood, or shes too small for the machine to work properly, who knows!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
