Can a Pharmacist deny you, your prescription?!

Question: Can a Pharmacist deny you, your prescription!?
Well let me start by saying I live in the state of FLORIDA, ust incase in varies in each state!.

Anyhow, in May I found out that i had a blocked tube in my kidney which lead to a bacterial infection!. I had surgery to put a stent in to drain the infection!. Now i've been left in alot of pain, blah, blah, blah!.

Ok well I am 8 months pregnant and my dr!. precribed me tylenol 3!. I had a total of three refills!. I went to get the last oone last night and I had the pharmacist come back 15 minutes later and tell me that she is doesnt want to give it to me becaiuse i'm pregnant!. And that She thinks that im taking to much (which i'm not by far) and asking "why do I even need them" which i feel is none of her business!.

Anyhow she ended up only giving me four after all this and telling me to call later the system is down!.
which i think was all bull!.
I told her that my OB would not give me anything that would be harmful
what are your thoughts can she really hold my meds on me like this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
My honest opinion, the Pharmacist should not & cannot deny your prescription reasons being, you were pregnant & your Ob knows this if he knows that tylenol would pose a threat to you & your baby , he would have never prescribed it in the first place!. Further more the pharmacist is there to do her Job & do it right, if the prescription is valid tell me why should she hold up on your medication!.
You have a case & you are the winner!. The Pharmacist is totally wrong!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I doubt that she would be withholding your medication on a legal ground if she then gave you 4!. I'd say it is more a health reason why she would reccoment that you not take the tylenol!. Could it be that it is your 3rd refill and that the cript was written before you were pregnant, or certainly not as far along as you are!?

Best to probably double check with your doctor, just to be on the safe side!.

I'd say a pharmacist will be able to tell you if legally she can withold your meds!.

Best of luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

The pharmacist has a obligation to consider all the pros & cons of a prescription!. She could be sued if something happened to the baby or if dependence started!. There are a lot of people out there who are dependent on these types of medications so she was probably being causious!. I am not referring to you !.!.!.!. I took the same medication during pregnancy for migraines!. You just have to talk & see if the benefits outweigh the risks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!.!.!.,

try a different pharmacy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

in mass a pharmasist can deny you medication they feel is harmful to you only after calling and confirming it with you dr!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Of course!pharmacist is one who is expert on drugs!.He knew well abt medicines when compared to a doctor!so u follow his instructions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it depends on the medication you are trying to buy if its over the counter or not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Check your local laws, but a pharmacist has the option NOT to fill a prescription in many states!.!.!.they can NOT fill birth control, narcotics, especially if they feel it is contraindicated, such as in pregnancy!. Pharmacist have a PhD, so they are not uneducated in the matter of medications and there potential side effects, interactions and contraindications!.

FDA pregnancy category C!. Codeine may be harmful to an unborn baby, and could cause breathing problems or addiction/withdrawal symptoms in a newborn!. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment!. Codeine can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby!. The use of codeine by some nursing mothers may lead to life-threatening side effects in the baby!. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby!.

Maybe you should be questioning your Dr and not the pharmacistWww@Answer-Health@Com

A pharmacist is like your second doctor, sometimes doctors make mistake and it is that pharmacist that will figure it out before they dispense to you!.Do you know that a pharmacist can get into serious trouble if they did not pick up on a mistake and harm you by dispensing the wrong drugs!.

Remember that you are pregnant, and no pain killers must be taken unless really necassary,so be safe, and take her adviceWww@Answer-Health@Com
