How much is to much when taking prescription pain killers?!

Question: How much is to much when taking prescription pain killers!?
as per a car accident I was involved in about 3 months ago now i was diagnosed with discogenic syndrome that was made worse since I continued to work (manual labor) befor the problem was diagnosed!. Along with my current meds I am in the process of getting three scheduled cortazone shots aswell!. basically the problem is lower back pain which seems to get worse and is easily aggravated from prolonged siting, bad posture, running/ exercise, pretty much anything!. for this I was originally prescribed 500 mg hydrocodone and was uped to 750 mg 4 times daily since the pain persisted!. I have recently finished my prescriptions and am not currently authorized for refills!. In my opinion my Drs are leery of giving me medications since I am 20 year old male college student , basically my questions is going through 3 prescriptions of 60 pills from may 15 to today june 22 that outrageous!. I mean its not like Im faking this or anything and nothing else seems to helpWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
uh,,the 500 and 750 you are talking about is the tylenol in the narcotic,,not the strength of the hydrocodone!. It's the first number you have to go by,, like 10/500,, that's 10mg of hydrocodone and 500mg of tylenol!.

You are not exactly on a high dosage of narcotic!. But if you have been taking them this long you are going to have to ween off them!. There are good ways to help control the pain without using too many narcotics!.

I've been taking hydrocodone for several years daily for a spine injury and here is a good idea on how to deal with your doctor and your pain!.

Start a daily journal of your pain!. Nothing fancy, I use a steno pad!. Record:
When you hurt
Where you hurt
How bad you hurt on a scale of 1-10
and most important,,how the pain is effecting you daily life!. What you can't do because of the pain!.

Take it to the doctor with you!. It's hard to communicate your concerns when you only have a few minutes with the doctor!. Plus it will help the doctor feel you are wanting to be part of the process of controlling your pain!. That's real important when dealing with doctors and pain medications!.

I've been in a pain management program for several years and the pain journal is something I've been doing the entire time!. I never have issues with pain meds and refills!. And the main reason is the pain journal and the fact that I don't abuse the medications!. The minute the doctor thinks that you are abusing them is when the problems begin,,,,,and it's not fun,,, I've been there!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would go to a pain specialist to find out what your options are!. If you had car insurance, it should be covered!. Also, check with your doctor about pain management!. They may be able to prescribe a non-narcotic pain med!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hydrocodone comes in mg's of 5, 7!.5, and 10!. when taking hydrocodone you should always take as recommended!. But hey **** those rules!. Take 3 or 4 of those bitches but make sure you eat something to line your stomach first!. Worst case scenario is you'll get tylenol poisoining!. But that's why you line your stomach first!. eat a few pieces of bread or something!. You'll feel ******* amazing while on those mugs!. The 500 mgs on the hydrocodone is the amount of tylenol!. it should say either 5/500 or 7!.5/750 or 10/500!. The first number is the amount of hydrocodone in it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
