When you have a sever concussion, it is common for short term memory to be forgotten!. How long it takes to get the memory back, how she's feeling, etc!., has to deal with the severity of the concussion and your daughter!. Everyone is different and is affected differently!. One of the most important things you can do is to wake up your daughter about every two hours!. You want to do this because the brain may swell and there may be a crack in the skull where fluids are leaking!. If she doesn't wake up medical attention should be called immediately!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

She has had a traumatic brain injury!. The brain typically swells, and only has so much place to expand!. I'd expect her to have had CT scan and MRI to locate the damaged areas!. I recommend talking with your daughter's doctor/s regarding diagnosis and treatment!.

The more you learn, the easier it will be to understand & deal with!. There's an excellant site for TBI survivors and family!. They are extremely helpful and always supportive! I am a survivor of tbi 3/07, considered a "newbie" still!. ((hugs)) to you & your daughter!Www@Answer-Health@Com

if she's under age 18, you are entitled to all info needed from her docs and nurses!. she will have a CT of her brain and a consult with a neurologist and will have to follow up after her discharge!. if she's over age 18, the same info applies but she has is protected by HIPAA!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on the accident and how serious the injury!.!.!.!. it can last a few days to weeks but she will be fine !.!. her long term memory will return but her short will take a while !.!.!. main thing is she is ok !.!. sorry to hear your news and thoughts are with you!.!.!.will e-mail more details as my mom is a nurse !.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you should be best asking for advice at the hospital, they are trained to assist family in situations like that!.
Good luck on her recovery!.xWww@Answer-Health@Com
