How do I get rid of chest congestion?!

Question: How do I get rid of chest congestion!?
I had a cold last week(runny nose, mild sore throat, tiredness) Then the cold ended after a few days and it turned into cough and congestion!.
My coughing begins at night and lasts thru the early morning hours!. Then by mid morning it just stops!. Its hard to sleep!. The cough is productive!. My voice is slightly hoarse!. I feel good during the day with energy and I do go out for walks to ease the phlegm and open me up!. I drink plenty of fluids--sometimes a gallon of water in a day!. I drink lemon juice and honey in hot water!. I take Nyquil and Robutussin at night sometimes!. But it doesnt seem to help!. The nyquil does give me restful sleep though!. I take steam baths and it loosens me up some!. When I talk to family and friends on the phone they say I sound congested!. Im running out of ideas to beat this and dont want to do go to the doctor because i have no temperature and feel good!. Its just the aftereffects of a cold!.!. I may try Vicks Vapor Rub next!. Any suggestions!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would use the vicks at night and try using a vaporizer that always helps too!. Try some Tylenol cold and cough medicine that works better then robutussin!. Hope ya get feeling better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

sounds like you had some more serious cold and will be advisable to see a doctor since pneumonia can be the cause and has to be ruled out by x-rays and blood tests, and if you haven't had antibiotics you may need them now to clear the cough and the congestion, if all that is tested and clean just give some more time and good fruit meals with lots of vit C can speed it upWww@Answer-Health@Com

u could just have allergies!. if u want to b sure go 2 a doc but if u know u have an allergic reaction(s) to something then just go 2 a pharmacy and get some allergy pillsWww@Answer-Health@Com

you shouldn't be taking a drowsy medicine at night, as you the cough is productive you need to bring the phlegm up!.
make sure the medicine you are taking is specifically for a chesty cough, as the dry cough medicines will suppress the cough turning it into an infection!.
Take some guafesin and a decongestant such a pseudophrine or phenylephrine!.
if the phlegm is coming up a greeny colour then you definatly have an infection!.
i would treat it for a few more days and then go to your doctor if it doesnt shift!.
And Vicks Vapor Rub may unblock you in the short term, but it will only last for a while!.
good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
