Just took out my stitches. What now?!

Question: Just took out my stitches!. What now!?
well, I knew they wouldn't be pretty, but the edge of the wounds seem to sit ontop of my skin!. And one of them looks pretty split!. I have steri-strips over them right now, I just don't want it to heal with a gash-like thing in my hand, I hope that made sense, I really don't know how to explain it!. Has anyone had stitches removed and the skin looks wierd!? ugh I just want it to look normal! I took them out myself!. I waited the full 10 days, they came out no problem, I even poured preoxide on all the wounds and it didn't even bubble! So everything is "healed" enough for the stitches to come out!.

Anyone ever gotten stitches!? How did you care for it afterwards!? I have a steristrip, band-aid and gauze over my hand to keep the wound completely pressed together so it doesn't heal funky!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You sound like you have completly healed!. YOu don't need the bandaid if your incision isn't draining, and you should let the steristrips fall off by them self, you can wash like normal, but don't pick at the strips!. There is expensive scar treatments at the drug store, but when I burned my arm taking a pizza out of the oven, I ran to the store and picked up the scar treatment by the makers of Head ON!. It worked great to fade my scar, and it is easy to apply, it goes on like lip balm!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

the problem is not what you did but the stitches the doctor did!. Anyway it'll smooth, but not totally!. Use cacao cream!. Be careful with keloids!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well I'm just going to say this, you get what you pay for, espescially in the medical field!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had nine in my knee, complete with a swing cast to prevent tearing!. My wound looked pretty gross afterwards too!. Greenish yellow, and I wasnt sure if it would stay shut!. The reason it may not look completely healed is because the epidermis may be slighty split, but the inside of the wound has fused back together!. The little 'funky edges' are just where the stitches werent in, so they have to heal by themselves, with out the aid of something giving them contact to the other side!. It'll look weird for a bit, but it will be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
