Common conservative methods of treatment for low back pain include:
1!. rest for only a day or so- prolonged bedrest actually makes back pain worse

3!. NSAIDs like ibuprofen or Aleve as directed (taken for 3 consecutive days)
4!. gentle stretching

See a doctor (an orthopedic MD preferably) if any of the following applies to you:
1!. the pain does not resolve after the above conservative treatment
2!. you have pain that radiates down your leg(s) or numbness and tingling in your feet
3!. there is any problem urinating or moving your bowels

Your doctor will start with conservative treatment and then order an MRI if there is no improvement or if you show any additional symnptoms such as those listed above!.

That depends a lot on why your back is hurting!. Generally back pain is a side effect of something else going on!.
Treatment of back pain is a serious issue that needs to be treated by a physician!.
For general at home care until you can see a doctor you can put icy hot/cold rub or you can use a compress, heating pad or use any topical pain killer!. Generally motrin is good for backs!. I use anything with menthol for mine, but that is because I have Fibromyalgia!. Menthol works for that!. If you have had an injury or your chest is too large it is different!.
Usually people go to physical therapy for those!. It can teach you proper posture and guide you to the right fitting clothes so you will walk straight which puts pressure properly distributed throughout your body instead of on your back!.
If you are sitting at a desk or slouching over a lot, then you need to get a desk that is the right heighth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Roll up a towel and and put it right on the back and lay on it on the floor for about 15 mins it helps me!. good luck and I hope you feel better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
