I took my daughter to see a doctor today for bruises on her body?!

Question: I took my daughter to see a doctor today for bruises on her body!?
I took my 3 year old daughter to see her doctor an hour ago!. She has about a dozen little bruises on each her legs, they aren't very big, but you can see them clearly , maybe about an inch in diameter and the doctor is sending her for blood tests to check for F!.S!.C in hematology and T!. CEPHALTINE(PTT) and T!.PROTHROMB!.(INR) in coagulation!. Does anyone know what exactly he is looking for !? Thanks for any help!. The doctor told me the bruises are not normal because if she fell , it would be a bigger bruise and not these mini bruises all over her, and now she has 2 on her back that I just noticed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
it could be idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, a condition where platelets in the blood which causes caoagulation during the bleeding are reduced!. It could be blood dyscrasias where clotting factors are low!. it could be vitamin k deficiency since this is needed to make the clotting factors!. you said ur daughter gets sick once in a while!? that means she is immunocompromised!. Her resistance to diseases are not as strong as the normal average person!. Lets wait for the results and see which one of the diagnoses is it!. I wont give u the management for now since the possibilities are vast!. pls tell the diagnosis next time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Far Fetched Thought but I noticed I bruised terribly while taking the supplement Licorice!. I had bruises all over from just being touched !. I am also fair skinned but still these were all over - if my 4 yr old son sat on my lap -i'd bruise from his butt bones!. My husband left bruises from just bumping my legs in the night!. Did she eat licorice any chance!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

you did the right thing don't listen to any body else just wait untill you get back the result if you want afterwards get a second opinion!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

she may not be getting enough nutrients!. Try giving her a multivitamin everyday!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

He is lookin for a bleeding diorder such as IPT , leukemia etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

he is checking for any conditions that could cause bruising (such as looking for a decrease in the chemicals in her blood that cause clotting or something that would cause her blood vessels to be fragile) along with just checking the general composition of her blood (red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, etc!.!.)

bruises are caused when the blood vessels are broken and the blood leaks into the skin tissue- like when you whack your shin on the coffee table or fall off your bike

people who bruise for no reason at all, or who bruise super easily, could have any number of conditions- some of them serious, some of them not- the tests will help him make a diagnosisWww@Answer-Health@Com

Bruising can be a sign of a hematologic disorder, also it can be due to falling and what normal 3yr olds do!. PTT and PT are tests of the intrinsic and extrinsic clotting pathways!. This is one aspect of a pediatric hematologic workup!. Before you begin to worry too much let your doc do the work up!. Watch for other signs of hematologic disorders: paleness, jaundice, ease of bruising, chronic fatigue, failure to thrive, weight loss, ease of bleeding (nose, stool, urine, cuts that don't stop)!. My hope is that all is well for you and your daughter!. If you continue to worry or if you feel the work up is incomplete obtain a second opinion from a pediatrician or family practice doctor!.

Sincerely,
