Answers:
The reason the morphine is not working is because the dosage is less!. Using the narcotic dosage converter, it shows that 30mg of oxy is equal to 45 mgs of morphine, so basically, he has lowered your dosage of narcotic pain killer!. The converter also showed that a 30 mg Morphine is only equal to 20 mgs of oxy!.

In order for him to match your dosage he would need to prescribe you 50 mg morphine which would be equal to 33!.33 mgs of oxy!. close to what you were taking!. He also may be trying to slowly work you off of the narcotics to avoid detox and withdrawl symptoms!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've found morphine to be more effective at pain relief than any of the oxy(s) oxycontin, oxycodeine, etc!. Maybe the dose is too low, or it was another ingredient in the oxy that helped you (acetametaphin sometimes)!. You might want to try adding Emtec (codeine and acetametaphin)
ps Do insist on aggressive pain management!. Lots of doctors are overly afraid of getting an addicted person on their records such that so many suffer needlessly!. It's in the popular media so much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was on the same prescriptions as you (morphine and roxy) and the morphine isn't all its played out to be for pain!. I'm not sure if you are familiar with it, but there is a medication called dilaudid (you may want to talk to your doctor about it)!. It comes in 4mg and 8mg (and I know that sounds low, but trust me, its very very powerful with pain)!. It works better on pain than oxys and morphine put together!. I am on the 4mg dose, and in very chronic pain, and it works great!. It takes my pain away!. I barely need my roxys and that's big for me!. I hope you find something to work and you start feeling better!. By the way, the Dilaudid is very cheap!. I don't even have insurance, and for 90 of them, i pay $15!.00!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I assume the oxy and the morphine are extended release and the oxy ir (immediate release) is for break-through pain!. I've had 5 back surgeries, and up until this year, I took MS Contin--over a ten-year period, anywhere from 30 mg twice/day to 100 mg 3x/day!. For a little while, I was prescribed aDuragesic (fentynl) patch (3 days)!. I take methadone now, 20 mg 2x/day!. I never took oxycontin, but I know someone who did!. He preferred the oxy because of the head buzz associated with it!. There is no head buzz with morphine!. So, if by working you mean you "feel" it, you should concentrate on the relief of pain in your back!. It takes a little getting used to!.!.!.keeping a journal of daily activities, amount of medicine, and breakthrough meds, and 3-5 pain checks, using the face/number chart!. Review your journal weekly to spot trends--when your back hurts, what you have done to cause breakthrough pain, and what activities or body positions give you relief!. If you haven't kept up with the PT, restart it now!. Keeping a pain journal is essential because your goal should be to live WITH pain, not to live IN pain!. Chronic pain can cause depression!. You must be your own doctor, so learn the medspeak, research your back problems completely, keep that journal, and make sure your physician's approach to pain management matches your needs!. Finally, if you've been taking strong opiates for more than six months, talk to your doc about taking a pain med "holiday" (minimum 2 weeks no opiates) and ask about Catapres (relieves the kicks)!. Drug holidays are no picnic, but without them, your body eventually needs more medicine to receive adequate relief!. Finally, accept your pain but don't let it rule your life!. Sending healing energy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
