Can a 19 year old have artristis?!

Question: Can a 19 year old have artristis!?
Hello, Arthritis runs in my family so when I was 9-10 years old my family just said it was growing pains, but then at age twelve I stopped growing so fast (but not by much i'm the same height as when I was 15) they said it was my growth plates locking up or whatever, but the pains never stopped and I've never been diagnosed but we've always just said oh i have arthritis!. is this really possible, It usually hapens when a weather front is moving through or it gets super cold!. Its like pressure inside my joints and pain in the muscles of me legs hips, knees, sometimes even ankles!. Is is really possible for a 19 year old to have arthritis!? (because I always thought it was something that came on with age) Thanks!
P!.S!. i have had no leg injuries or birth defects that could cause thisWww@Answer-Health@Com

unfortunatly, you can have arthritis at any age!. I got it at 22 and i'm only 24!. You should go get blood tests and be seen by a rhumatologist!. I know how bad the pain is, and I have the same thing and it runs in my family also!. I really hope you get treated, and start feeling better!. You are young, and its a very painful thing to have, especially getting it at a young age (I know)!.!.so hopefully a Rhumatologist and/or a Pain Management Physician can help you!. I truly hope you feel better and good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

yeah!.!.!.people of any age can have arthritis!. it's much more popular in older people, yes, but there's a girl i used to be friends with that has arthritis super bad, and she just turned seventeen!. so yeah, it's possible!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yeah i have a friend who's 14 and she's had it since 3rd or 4th grade i think!. she always has it worse right before it rains and that sounds like your problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes!. I had a friend who was about 16 years old in high school and she has really bad arthritis!. I think you should just see a doctor as soon as u can!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

sounds like fibromyalgia to me!. I was diagnosed at 17 but I think i've had it since I was like, 10!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it's common for people to believe that arthritis is something that affects 'old people' but that certainly is NOT the truth!.

I have had Arthritis since I was 5!.!.!. Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis!.!. now called Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis and actually I know some people who have been diagnosed like at 10 months old!.

Anyways, that aside, growing pains is something that is used way to often as a shrug off and it sucks because in reality they shouldnt hurt that severely and should not keep happenig!.!. !.

the fact that your growth plates locked up is not good!.!. it could be that you have JRA and no one ever realized it or that you have a growth disorder!.!.!.

Whatever the case, it's common for joints to hurt when it's cold but often times with JRA, it doesnt have to be cold to hurt!. It's also common to have Fibromyalgia which can cause generalized muscle pain!. I also have that and have had it since childhood!. The fact that you feel it in your muscles is a point towards fibro where as JRA doesnt tend to make the muscles hurt unless there is tendon/muscle involvement from that disease or another rheumatic disease!.

There are other rheumatic diseases that are rare but can cause pain in the joints like ankylosing spondylitis but that primarily causes pain in the spine and happens often in boys!.

The fact that they say 'oh you have arthritis' but never really diagnosed it concerns me!. I reallyh think you should get clarification on this because Arthritid esp something like Rheumatoid can be very serious and damging to the body!. It's an autoimmune disease and theres no reason to be in pain when there are treatments availiable!.

Yes you can have arthiritis , but if your growth plates never separated, you really need to talk to an orthopedic specialist!. I had grown 4 inches in one year when I was 14 and they thought it was just growing pains!. Several years later (age 19) I had major pain while in college and was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthiritis!. I let this go on for years and finally saw an orthopedic specialist and he was able to arthoscopically repair both of my knees (finding that my growth plates had not separated and had caused severe banding)

You may have to have a MRI in addition to X-rays!.

Good luck and remember that there are a lot of advancements in treating both arthiritis or orthopedic problems!.
