Trouble falling asleep early?!

Question: Trouble falling asleep early!?
im 14 (going to be a freshman) i know you are supposed to get 8-10 hours of sleep a day!. i get so much homework and have activities, when i try my hardest i MAY be done in time to get 8 hours (i have to wake up at 5:30, bus comes at 6:30) but the problem is that i cant get to sleep that early!. i try as hard as i can but cant fall asleep early!.i usually dont fall asleep on weeknight until 11 or 12!. because of this i am often tired and miss the bus!. thats another thing!. i can never get myself out of bed no matter if im well rested or not, my body just stays in a half-dream mode and i dont want to move!. next year i CANNOT miss the bus because my sister will be late for school because my parents will have to drive her to the middle school after driving me!.
note: i have an alarm clock and snooze button but im such a heavy sleeper that i turn it off in my sleep!
so my two questions are:
1!. how can i fall asleep earlier
2!. how can i get myself to get out of bed and not fall back asleepWww@Answer-Health@Com

A couple of suggestions for you!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

First, pick a specific time and, whether your done with what you need to be done with, go to bed!. If you toss and turn and don't fall asleep there's a couple different things you can try:

if you have a tv, turn it on but put the volume down so low that you can barely hear it!. sometimes the small amount of noise helps!.

turn the radio on so you can barely hear it!.

drink a glass of warm milk!. (some people don't like warm milk, others love it, if you haven't tried it don't hate it till you at least try it once!.)

warm cocoa is also good for this!.

if reading tends to make you drowsy, read before bed!.

a warm bath is usually relaxing enough to go to sleep!.

If none of these work then take some nyquil or other drowsy medication (only the recommended dosage!!!!) before you go to bed for the first couple nights, after that your body will be used to falling asleep at that time and you can stop taking it!. Don't do this for more that a few days straight though or your body will depend on it to fall asleep!!!!

As for the getting up part!.

Ask your parents or if you have siblings to help get you up!.

you can get alarm clocks that only snooze once which will force you out of bed!.

force yourself out of bed and jump right into the shower, it'll wake you up and prepare you for the day!.

get multiple alarm clocks and have them going off 5 minutes from eachother!.

put your alarm clock across the room so you have no choice but to get up to turn it off and then turn it up so loud that it's almost annoying!. (this one worked really well for me)!.

Hope these help you figure out what's best for you!!!

avoid excessive stimulus as much as you can shortly before going to bed ( like tv and stuff)!. Try some relaxing music, nothing very stimulating like your favorite band, when you are on your bed!. Last thing, that could be funny but try try reading a really boring book when you are already on the bed! Hope that helpsWww@Answer-Health@Com

first you have to prepare yourself for bed by reading a book taking a warm bath, soft music!. all those things are soothing !. your mind must br racing and you need to calm it down alittle!. try it, it works!. another thing, with those methods that i told you about you will get up earlier and feel rested!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

take a shower before bed get into warm clothes get into your nice warm made bed!.listen to calming music!.have a warm cozy clean room!.
also dont do anything crazy the day beforeWww@Answer-Health@Com

i have the same exact problem!.
sorry i cant help :(Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try a little exercise before lying in bed!. A few crunches, situps, or even skipping a rope for a while!.!. not so much that you drench yourself in sweat but just as little as that you start feeling like catching up your breath!. Stop and then go to bed!.

When in bed, get yourself something to read other than your syllabus, like a story book, novel, nonfiction!.!.!. just anything you like!.!.

It definitely helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had the same problem when I was your age which was actually only two years ago!. Getting up at 5:30 for school, damn that's tough!. I'm going to be a junior technically still a sophomore because I didn't earn enough credits!. I don't know I definitely couldn't do it, I HATE getting up any earlier than eleven in the morning just like you on weekends!. Try to get yourself up, that's all I can say!.!.!.I'm sixteen so I'll be working that's a stress you won't have to worry about for two years!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Trash the junk food, soda, caffeine and sugar during the day!. Limit your carbohydrate intake to complex carbs at night!. start at least 1 hour before bed!. Turn off the computer, tv, stereo and all noise!. You have to make your body believe that you are actually wanting to sleep, keep it stimulated and you will stay up all night!. NO CAFFEINE! it screws everything up!. The more processed food you eat, the harder it is to wake in the a!.m!. Also the more tired you feel the next day!. Really diet and keeping away from caffeine is the key!. you cannot do homework until right up to time for bed!. You might want to think about either cutting out one activity or finding some time to just be 14!. it sounds like you are living the lifestyle of a 30 year old with a job!. I believe you are probably drifting through on auto pilot!. At 14, you probably need more like 9 hours of sleep, and no way are you getting that right now!. Your body is smart as it wants to stay in dream mode!.!.!.you must get a certain amount of sleep in REM to remain alert and refreshed during the day!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have the EXACT same problemm!
What helps me is I get alot of exercise, so I'm tired out by the end of the day!.
If you don't get enough sleep the night before, then your body adjusts to falling asleep late, even if you get like 5 hours of sleep!.(at least for me) Then you can't sleep until late at night the day after that!.
So really try to go to bed on time especially on Sunday nights, so you're sleeping isn't screwed for the rest of the week!
Also, get a LOUD alarm clock that doesn't let you snooze, and get your parents to make sure your up 15 minutes later!.
Btw, if you don't get enough sleep one night, you might not feel tired until the day AFTER!.(cant sleep sunday, feel tired tuesday) usually only sometimes!.
I hope this helps:)
good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
