Is it possible if my dad has a thyroid problem that I do too?!

Question: Is it possible if my dad has a thyroid problem that I do too!?
Even though he has an under active one!. It's quite possible mine is overactive!.Should I just get tested when my medical benefits fully kick in on the first!? I have been the same weight since age 16!. I can not get past 93 lbs(extremely tiny bone structure , 5' 2 1/2" tall)No matter how much I eat!. People tell me to eat more and I tell them I can put away as much food as a fat person can and nothing changes!.I've tried nutritionists and doctors and following the right diet!.But nothing works!.My co worker babysits for a woman with over active thyroid and is really thin like me!.Maybe I'm not naturally thin!.I just want a healthy body and want to rule out every possibilities!.I don't want to get fat!.I just want to find out what keeps me from getting past 93 lbs when I eat like a pig on a good day!.Losing weight is extremely easy!.In one week i can lost 5 lbs or more if depressed etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi!.!.!.yes, thyroid anomalies are often genetic, so I would say it would not hurt to get tested as soon as you can!. I wouldn't assume you are hyperthyroid based on inability to gain weight alone, though!. There are a lot of other symptoms hyper's deal with along with the weight loss, like sleep issues, anxiety, problems with your period and various other things!. If you are feeling great aside from the weight stuff, then don't worry too much, and have the test when you are able to!. I would say "enjoy the fact that you can eat what you want", but I know that it can be just as annoying to not be able to gain weight, as it is for people who have to lose weight!.!.!.so I won't say that =) g'luck!. kozzzWww@Answer-Health@Com

Thyroid problems can be hereditary!. You've nothing to lose by having a thyroid function test - most problems are entirely managable once diagnosed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You obviously have a metabolism problem!. You need tests!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

unfortunately, you can be a candidate of having that kind of sickness because thyroid problems are hereditary BUT with such issues you cannot say instantly that you have a thyroid problem, because thryoid disorders have a lot of symptoms to show before you can say that you have one!.!.!.palpitation, hair loss, weight loss for hyper active & weight gain for hypo active!.!.!.you will also notice that your neck is quite larger than before!.!.!.!.and also, parts of your body like your hands and feet are shaking!.!.!.

those were the symptoms i've noticed in my mom!.!.!.she has undergone biopsy because of that!.!.but she's fine now!.!.;)Www@Answer-Health@Com
