How long should I wait to walk after spraining my ankle?!

Question: How long should I wait to walk after spraining my ankle!?
I sprained my ankle on Wednesday, though it wasn't a bad sprain!. It hurt a lot to walk on it, and I could if needed!.

I've tried hard to keep off of it the past few days, and used my foot only a little bit yesterday!.

How long should I wait before trying to use it more regularly!? If I kept it elevated and off the ground this weekend, would it be okay to try and use it Monday!?

Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
i sprained my ankle a few months ago during sports, and both the coaches and school trainers told me to "walk it off"!.

i know it's painful, but try to walk on it and treat it normally!. it'll be hard, but do it anyway!. keep reminding yourself that it's good for you!.

but whatever you do, DON'T OVER-DO IT!!! i started playing on my 3rd degree sprained ankle only 2 weeks after, and i'm paying for it now!. x-rays, MRI's, and physical therapy!. so walk on it, but don't run and don't walk around for more than say, 15 minutes at a time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should be fine now, actually!. Sparins take about 2-5 days to heal, unless they're really bad!. I'd elevate and ice if I were you, and still walk, even if there's some pain!. Try taking ibuprofen to keep the swelling down and to keep it from bothering you!. I'd wait until next Wednesday to start running again, though!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Even a mild sprain involves the partial tearing of ligaments so you need to be careful!. Keeping off your ankle will allow them to heal properly!. If you can't keep off it at least support it with a brace or ACE bandage!. It should be better in a week, but still may not be fully healed!. How badly did you roll it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes you should definently walk on it as soon as you can because it may be painful but that will help it heal!.the faster you can walk on it the faster it heals!.
Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

dont walk on it you will make it worse rest on it stand up hold onto something and put a little presure on it!.
