If you want to remove your sciatica then you need to stretch but you also need to improve the strength of the weak muscles and make sure the lower spinal joints are moving correctly!.

Stretching only covers possibly a third of the causes of your sciatica!. This doesn't mean you shouldn't stretch, but you should use stretches as a part of a regime to permanently fix your sciatica!.

Also!.!. make sure you use PNF stretches, as research has shown these to be far quicker and more effective at releasing muscle tension!.

The main muscles you should target are the Piriformis, but also the Hip Flexors, Lower Back Muscles (erector spinae) and Hamstrings are important as well!.

I was told to stand then bend forward as far as you can go with OUT bouncing to do it!. Do this several times a day!.
Also to lie on your back and bring your bent legs up to your chin or as far as you can go, hold, then back down easy!.
The other one while on your back is to hold on to the head board, then with body straight take left leg across the right as far as it will go, then back and down,, Then the right leg!. Repeat a few times per day!.!. These help me alot!. I deal with this sciatic prob often and also shooting pain down the legs, in the middle of buttocks, and at times get leg cramps in the middle of the night that don't help!.!. Not fun, is it!? Sorry you have to deal with this very common prob!.!. I do know that taking some much needed vitamings and minerals goes a long way!.!.!. and drinking anything with Quinine in it!.
