What is wrong with my quadricep?!


Question: What is wrong with my quadricep!?
Yesterday morning I was playing goalie at soccer practice and when I dove for a ball a girl slide-tackled my quad!. It's been hurting pretty badly ever since then but strangely is not swollen or bruised!. It hurts when I fully straighten my leg, bend my knee past 90 degrees, flex my quadricep, or put weight on it!. The pain is worst when I put weight on my leg when it's bent!. The pain is pretty severe, even while just walking!. What's wrong with my quad and should I go to the doctor!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

it sounds like a quadriceps contusion!. i play a sport in college and one of my teammates got one and was on crutches for a couple days!. it's one of the most common injuries in athletics!.

it sounds like a grade I contusion since there's no discoloration, but if one develops it could possible be a grade II!.

to manage, start with the basic RICE treatment- rest, ice, compression (when you wrap an ace bandage around it, flex your knee), elevation!. if it hurts that badly to bear weight, stay off it!.

after the acute pain goes away, you can start easy flexibility/strengthening exercises!. don't try any of these when you're still having significant pain!. also don't use heat or massage!. you should be able to start light stretching and light cardio in 3-7 days!. if it's still really painful after that much time, i'd recommend seeing your orthopedist!.
