What is the least dangerous over the counter pain medication?!

Question: What is the least dangerous over the counter pain medication!?
I had back surgery a while back and I expect to have at least a little bit of pain and stiffness for my whole life (I'm 24)!. For the most part, I shrug off any pain, but every once and a while I want to take something to feel completely better!.

What is the best over the counter pain medication with side effects (future and instant) in mind!. I know that Tylenol (acetaminophen) can cause liver damage and that Aspirin thins the blood and can also cause other problems, and that almost any other OTC painkiller has some sort of problem associated to it!.

In short - which OTC pain pill will keep the pain away effectively and minimize long term and short term side effects!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
All medications, even those you can buy without a prescription can help but can also be harmful if not taken properly,

To answer your question about a pain reliever that you can take for the rest of your life!.!.!.!.I think it would depend on the type of pain, the dose needed to control the pain, your other medical conditions and any other medications that you are taking!. (Prescription, Non prescription and natural products)

I would suggest that you ask your physician for a suggestion so that he or she can write down what you are taking in your medical records!. That way you won't have problems with drug interactions!.

Tylenol (if taken in the recommended daily dose) in a healthy person works well for pain relief!. Taking it occasionally like you mention should not be a problem!.

You might have to worry about liver damage if you
a!. Drink alcohol on a regular (daily) basis
b!. Take other medicines that affect the liver
c!. Take more than the recommended amount of acetaminophen each day

Other medications like Aleve, Motrin and aspirin also work well but can have some side effects like stomach pain and may interact with other medications!.

Bottom line!.!.!.Ask your doctor for a recommendation and make sure you let each doctor that you see know what you're taking!. Also you can ask a pharmacist for recommendations when you get to the drugstore!.

Hope this helps

There are possible side affects with any medication!. (Ibuprofen thins your blood as well as aspirin, and it can cause stomach problems, ulcers!.!.!.)!. If you don't want to talk to your doctor about this then at least ask a pharmacist, they will be able to give you an educated answer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Advil and Motrin are both really good and strong, they are both Ibuprofen!. And since you can piggy back them (take them a hour or so after the acetaminophen) it will reduce your intake of the Tylenol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would say Tylenol, taken as directed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
