I injected meth heavily for 4 years total, been clean for 3 years and I feel pretty much fine!. When you use meth (from what I've read) it causes a dump (large increase) in your norepinephrine levels in the brain, this is what causes the rush after you do a hit!. It works as a norepinephrine and dopamine (both neurotransmitters) reuptake inhibitor!. Look at this page and it shows a picture of a neuron synapse which is the site where your neurotransmitters work to create signals that produce different feelings within your brain!. http://txtwriter!.com/Backgrounders/Druga!.!.!.
When your axon releases the little neurotransmitters down to their receptor sites, when they meet at the receptor sites they create signals that are sent to the brain!. they are then recycled back up off of the receptor sites (reuptake) and are used again later!. Meth causes a reuptake inhibitory response for norepinephrine and dopamine, both of which are pleasure causing neurotransmitters and causes mass amounts of them to be stuck there for a while when you're high!. From what I've read, it causes permanent damage in the norepinephrine receptor sites but not in the dopamine sites!. You haven't been using long enough consistently to do any real damage!. Sure there's definately damage, but you'll be just fine and you might not even notice it after 2-3 years, but if you took how you feel after 3 years sober and compared it instantly to how you would have felt if you never used at all, I'm sure you'd feel a difference!.
I can tell you that I feel just fine!. But I do have a feeling that if I had never done meth, that I would feel better (not sure exactly how much)!. But oh well, I feel plenty good, and so will you!.

You need to get something going in your life in order to want to stay clean!. I can tell you that there was times after I would quit for a while, like if I had been in jail for a couple months, when I would get out and just crave meth like crazy beause of the fact that I was still in love with the drug!. Even after I quit for 1!.5 years once, It showed up in front of my face once and I was flooded with the desire to use and did, because I was deep down still in love with it!.
Now days, you could put a loaded hit right in my hand and I would have hardly any will to do it at all, because I have too much to lose now!. I have a wife (who used to use with me by the way) and a house and I just don't want to have to be reminded of what it's like and I'd rather not have to deal with any of it anyway!. It's just so much easier when you say "enough of the bull$hit" and you have the drive to use wiped away by the desire to pursue the good things that are in front of you in your life that you can have and have in abundance if you just stay away completley!.
Once you've gone back and forth enough times and realize that it's much easier on the mind to just stay away then that's one step!. Plus, I'm telling you that you actually can be much happier with the good things you can get in a life without meth, than you can with meth, this I promise you!. This is something that I really didn't believe myself by the way!. It's so much better to have natural, self-sufficient happiness, and a home, a family and money and the ability to do fun things with it!. And the emotions that you can have towards the things in your life can actually be alot stronger when you're sober!. It's a different kind of intensity but overall it can be much more rewarding!.
I remember when I was on it and in the months after i quit how i used to think "I'll never be able to be happy without it, I feel so fu@ked up" That'll pass, since you've been doing it since you were 12, it'll be harder than it was for me!. I used from ages 22-28 and what's hard to get over more than anything is the emotional adjustment!. This is where you'll have to make a bigger change than I had to since 12-20 is quite an important period of emotional growth!. But you'll survive, and you'll turn your experiences into a strength, I guarantee it!.

I really believe that the damage done to your body isn't going to be a big deal at all, you'll eventually get back about 95% or more, but it can take a while!. Alot of the damage that you're feeling is psychological, and the fiending for meth is an almost purely psychological function!. The feeling like $hit physically during withdrawl and in the months right after you quit definately has it's large phyisical component, but the body readjusts itself nicely, and you'll be free of that!. Just keep truckin', you'll be fine I promise!. You just need to know deep down that you actually DO want to life the life that you can have away from meth, or else you'll be goin' back!. And know that the life that you want is out there and that it will be way better than the one you had, but you need to give yourself time to heal inside and out, and you very importantly need to learn how to find, obtain, live and enjoy that life, or else you never will!. If you stay clean long enough, you'll find it naturally, but work hard at it!.
I'm not the kind of person that goes around telling people that they should quit meth, I tell them If you like it, then do it!. But until you've quit once and learned what it's like and what you can really have naturally without it, then the possibility's there that you could be missing out on a huge amount of opportunity!. Especially while you're young like you are, I think that you absolutley need to give it your all on this one, and you'll probably find something great!. Plus you have to quit sometime, might as well quit when you're young and have your whole life ahead of you and opportunities like crazy, then when you're older and haggard and long term damage has made it way more difficult to live a happy life, and you've wasted all kinds of valuable time that you'll never get back!. I'm done!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
