Answers:
well don't take any drugs, as this may interfere with the shot!.
but think of the needle as an ant that stings, it almost feels the same!.
also, try to think of the odds of you dying from a shot, they are pretty low
just relax before youre get your shot, and when you're getting your shot, turn up your music on your iPod or PSP or whatever really high and shut your eyes, it works for me!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I understand your fear of shots - I used to be the same!. The thing is these days is that the needles are nice and sharp so it doesnt hurt when it pierces your skin!.!.!.trust me this is much better than a blunt one! Generally the discomfort people feel is the medicine being pumped into your skin, but again it depends what type of needles you are getting - some may not hurt at all!
Now some tips -
1!. take someone with you so that you can chat to them while the needles are being done as this should keep you busy and your mind active!.
2!. dont look at the needle being prepared or when the nurse brings it over to you as this will make you tense up and stress!.
3!. try to relax your body as if you are tensed up it may hurt more - relaxing will be much more comfortable!.
4!. hold someones hand if you feel you need to!.
5!. take deep breaths and think about something else!.!.!.
6!. remember that it will be over and by the end of the day you will wonder what you were so worried about!

I wouldnt reccommend taking advil or any medication before hand as it may not mix well with the injection medicine (depends what it is) but I would just go natural if I was you!.
Take something to read in the surgery so that you are not constantly looking around and waiting to be called in!. If you cry its not big deal just remember the nurse probebly wont see you again (or remember you if there is a next time)!.

Best of luck, you will be fine!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I understand TOTALLY! When I was a little girl, I was so afraid of shots (or any kind of needle stick) that I would pass out!. It was pretty embarrassing!. I'm not sure what kind of shots you are getting, but taking Advil might help if you're having side effects from a vaccine later on!.

Maybe you could take something with you that would help divert your attention!. You could take an IPod and listen to some relaxing music!. If you have a fuzzy stuffed animal, you could take that to hold onto!.

Really, it's not the needle part of the shot that's uncomfortable!. If the person is skillful, you barely feel it!. It feels a little uncomfortable when the vaccine (or medicine) is going in!. But, it only takes a few seconds and you're done!! Promise yourself something nice afterward as a reward for being brave (like your favorite flavor at Baskin Robbins or something!)!.

By the way, I had to overcome my fear of needles when I went to nursing school!. But, that doesn't mean that I like getting shots! Just take a positive attitude!. I know you can do it!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Taking the advil or any type of pain reliever should help the shots not hurt as bad afterwards!.

Here is something a doctor taught me when I was younger and had to get shots!.
Count back from 20 down to 1, it kinda takes your mind off a bit!. Try to think of Anything to get your mind off of it, if you can at least Try thinking of something else it makes it a little easier,
the good thing about shots is, if you dont freak out and let them do their job, dont move or tell them to wait, the shot itself goes Very quickly! It takes maybe all of a second!.
I used to cry, but now I just think of something else, dont look at the needle, look away and clench my hand in a fist!. It isnt really even painful, its mostly a mind thing!.
Just get it over with quickly, then you will be done!.
Once you get older you hardly ever have to have shots, but it really does get easier!.
Good Luck to ya!Www@Answer-Health@Com

We're in the same boat im 18 and I still just recently got over them!. My worst fear came to life when I had to get rabies shots after getting sprayed by a foaming skunk!. Longest needles ever and purple serum which freaked me out!. Had to get 1 every 4 days 5 times!. Finally I came to the realization that it was the idea of a needle penetrating my skin that scared me rather than the pain itself, which is seriously nothing unless you get tetnis which hurts only after and not during!. People say don't watch it going in but it actually helped me to do so cause before I was just preparing myself for it to hit any minute and made me more scared!. Just watch it and know it'll be over in less than a second no joke!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's okay to be afraid of shots!. I would recommend tylenol instead of advil!. When you go in to get them, just before, close your eyes and take some deep breaths to relax!. Then when they are giving you the shots, do not look at what they are doing!. Shut your eyes if you have to!. You might get better as you get older!. And shots are not forever!. They get further apart the older you get!. I am an RN and have given many shots to people!. Just try to think or do what ever you need to do to relax when you are there!. Good luck!. It will be over before you know it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Call the doctor's office and they will give you a presciption for a couple of Ativan to calm you down!. Tell them you might have a panic attack or what you are describing!. Then, when you are there, tell them just to give you the shot and close your eyes and hold your breath until they tap you and it's over!. Also, you can bite your lip or finger tip really hard and you won't feel it because your brain is too busy thinking about the other source of the pain!. You can do it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It doesn't hurt when the needle goes through the skin!. For me it only hurts when they begin injecting the stuff in!. Just try to stay calm!. Get a good nights sleep (too late for that) and look the opposite way that the needle is!. You probably won't feel a thing!. Also if they keep hurting you just think that the pain (not that there will be any) is helping keep you healthy and alive!. Better a few moments of discomfort if you are saved from a life threatening disease!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends o what your getting the shot for!.

I'm VERY AFRAID OF NEEDLED TO!. I always mess up the doctors and they get mad !. right when the needle gets close to my skin i back up and yell "no wait not yet" !! and they get so pissed!.

Just Look Away or don't what ever helps you just know that the quicker you let them do it the faster it will all be over

Taik a pain reliever and take it easy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

just look the other way and tell them to not tell you when they are gonna do it!. that way your not expecting it so it wont hurt as bad!. take like a squishy ball or a friends hand with to hold to help calm you down!. biting your finger or lip does help too like said before!. youll be fineWww@Answer-Health@Com

Before going for the shot make an auto suggestion" I will not be afraid of the shot!. It will not hurt me'!. Concentrate and repeat the sentences few times!. During the shot keep your mind empty of thoughts!. This will help you surely!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on the shot!.
I'm scared to death of needles too & I know personally there is nothing you can take that will keep you from being scared or crying!.You just have to suck it up & deal with it!.Sorry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

just try to suck it up!. i know it might be scary, but thats how we get stronger!.

and if it helps you can just think of someone pinching you really hard!. and dont look at the shot!!!
