Sprained Foot?!

Question: Sprained Foot!?
Friday afternoon I sprained my foot,I went to the ER and had an x-ray,they told me they didn't see anything on the x-ray and gave me a wrap for my foot along with some crutches so that the swelling would go down and hopefully heal!.They want me to see an Orthopedic surgeon this week to make sure they didn't miss anything on the x-ray!.They wanted me to leave the wrap on until my appointment but I can't!.I have this summer thing I have to go to that starts tomorrow and I have no transportation so I

It can take anywhere from 4 days to 3 weeks for a sprain to heal, so yes you are still injuring your foot!.

My suggestion is this:

keep the wrap on and nix the crutches that's what I always did unless my foot was in a cast (i've sprained my ankle and had to be on crutches for 6 of them and broke my foot 2 times)

so that way you still have some support to keep your ligaments from tearing more!.

good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i messed up my foot in volleyball and prob came back too soon!.!.!.i know it seems hard now but listen to your docs!. you don't want any long term prob!. if you play sports this could affect your season!.!. don't let it come to that!.!.if it doesn't hurt that bad to walk on it it might not be too serious but wait til you see the orthoWww@Answer-Health@Com

Like the other person said keep it wrapped when walking, but when you get to your destination if possible ice it!. A sprain not only can be to the ligaments but also a fracture to your growth plate in your foot!. That is serious and can stunt the growth of your foot and leg!. I would see a MD asap and they can put you in a walking boot, so you won't do any further damage!. This happened to my daughter @14 and because she continued to dance before I took her seriously about the discomfort in her foot- she was in the boot 12 weeks!. The plus side is it was removable to bathe, otherwise they would have put a cast!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

somewhat!. i sprained my ankle pretty badly and didn't go to the doctor until a week later so that week i had to go to school and i walked with my toes facing completely to the side of my body instead of forward and it actually damaged the ligament opposite the one i originally sprained!. if it doesn't really hurt to walk on it, it's ok to!. yes, it will slow the healing process but it if it doesn't hurt, it would slow it very very very slightly so you wouldn't even really notice!. the only thing is to be very careful not to twist it and getting your shoes on, that could really damage it and slow the healing process!. just an idea for you!.!.!. you could call a taxi and have it pick you up at your house and drop you off where you need to go!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
