Heel/Ankle pain?!

Question: Heel/Ankle pain!?
I have been having a pain in my heel/ankle lately!. Its kind of a dull throbbing that just doesnt go away!. I am not up on my feet all day, i work an office job, but sometimes by the end of the day my one heel hurts so much i can barely walk!. Even when I wake up in the morning it still aches and is even harder to walk on it!.

I want to know if it could be a genetic thing!.!.!. my mom just had surgery on her same ankle (she had the bones fused together) for kind of the same problem, but mine has only lasted a few weeks and hers was a lot of years!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The two problems may or may not be connected!. My suspicion is that they are!. I'm a certified pedorthist and I work with a lot of people who have feet and joint problems!. First, many people are unaware that many joint problems (knees, hips, ankles etc!.) can be associated with your feet!. When your feet are not properly supported they may roll out excessively (supinate) or roll inward excessively (pronate)!. In either case these motions can put stress on your joints!. Additionally, if you are having either of these conditions then it could mean that the bio-mechanics of your feet are out of balance!. Being out of balance means that you are putting excessive forces on other parts of your body!. For example, because you over pronate, this action can place undue strain on your plantar facia ligament!. This is a ligament that runs from your heel to your metatarsal joints!. When it becomes inflammed you typically experience heel pain, a condition called plantar fasciitis!. The symptoms include pain in the heel when you first rise in the morning and stand or if you sit for periods and stand!. Sometimes after you start walking the pain my subside!. With all of this said, it sounds to me that you could use a good firm arch support!. Not Dr!.Sholl stuff which is just rubber or gel and will not support and shift your body weight!.
