Anyone know anything about sudden blindness in 1 eye for elders who are in their!

Question: Anyone know anything about sudden blindness in 1 eye for elders who are in their mid 80's!?
My grandpa's left eye suddenly went blind and was ok before like a few minutes ago!. Right now he's in emergency at the hospital as our family physician suggested!. I was taking the nap at the time and was awoken when he yelled for my mom!. He said his left eye is blind and can see very very little and requires a large amount of light to see!. His right eye is fine!. My cousin, and my mom left with him to the emergency room and they've been gone for nearly 3 hours now!. Does anyone know whats happening, or like what could be the problem!? I looked around on google and maybe his optical nerve could be damaged or something!. I'm quite worried right now as I haven't heard from them since they left!. Any help would be really appreicated!. Thanks!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

In some cases - my mother had this happen at 92 - it's caused by a bleed behind the eye that blocks the retina!. Her's happened over the course of a day!. In her case it was caused by a medication, Cumedon, that thinned her blood too much!. After taking her off the Cumedon, we hoped for a reversal, but it necer happened!. I'm very sorry to hear of this and wish you and your Garndpa the best!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The same thing happened to my mother at 73, the Ophthalmologist sent her to a Dr!. and they found the carotid artery was constricted and a blood clot caused a break behind the eye ( this was 3 years ago and she still has no sight in that eye)Www@Answer-Health@Com
