Not forever, just until you correct whatever's causing the sleep apnea!. You said you were obese -- you probably won't need to use it if you start losing weight!. The weight is putting a huge strain on your respiratory system while you sleep, and you actually stop breathing while you're sleeping, that's why you wake up all the time!. Then you get tired because of that and sleep during the day!.

Even just a little weight can make a difference!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well you must have gone to the doctor for a reason!. I'm sure he sent you to a sleep clinic for a proper analysis, and now you don't like the results!? Have they discussed with you 'other factors' that may be contributing to your sleep apnea!? Is weight an issue with you!?

If you have never worked with someone who has full blown sleep apnea you would understand how important it is to get proper treatment!. The guy I worked with (yes obesity was also a factor) would be mid sentence in a meeting and just fall asleep!. This would happen throughout the day, also while he was driving!. Seeing how dangerous it can be, an oxygen mask should be a relief over the symptoms!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The CPAP machine is not an oxygen mask, so don't worry!. It just provides positive airflow when you sleep, to keep your airway from collapsing!. It is a life sustaining device, and you MUST use it if your doctor prescribes it for you!. It will take a few months to get used to it, but it will have a profound impact in your life!. In California, you are even given special treatment from the power company if you use a CPAP machine!. They give you a considerable discount on your electric bill and they do not include your house in scheduled power outages, mostly because they consider the CPAP machine as a life sustaining device!. I used to wake up every 2 hours!. I would micro sleep during work because my sleep wasn't sufficient!. I also suffered a mild heart attack because of the stress that it put on my body!. I was reluctant at first, but in my desire for a full nights sleep I forced myself to take my doctor's advice!. I now sleep soundly and I don't snore anymore, much to my wife's delight!. I even take it with me when I travel!. It will be uncomfortable at first, but you will eventually get used to it over time!. I hope this helps you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Not really, it depends on what sleep apnea stage are you in, the doctor will tell you, you can ask for other devices that are less uncomfortable but as well less effective!.
CPAP is not that uncomfortable, and it will rise your life quality a lot!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
