Answers:
If the pain that is being described is under the kneecap rather than below the kneecap here is the answer!. Pain that is behind the kneecap ( patella ) is called Patella Femoral Joint Dysfunction!. Simply put the kneecap is not riding correctly in the groove of the femur!. There are devices that can be used to see if they help!. Go to a pharmacy or large sporting goods store and get a patella tracking brace!. If there are none around then get one at either a medical supply house or most physical therapy offices have them!. They will have a cut out for the kneecap!. Better braces have a felt pad in the shape of a horseshoe!. Start by placing this pad so that the open end is at the bottom!. If that doesn't help then rotate it so that the opening is on the outside of the knee!. Exercises can also be done to increase the strength of a specific part of the quadriceps!. Use a long sitting position and place a rolled up bath towel under the knee and push down into the towel!. Do this ten times rest and repeat this cycle twice more!. Get a large can of tomatoes or other product such as a can of Juicy Juice or larger!. Place a towel around that and again place that under the knee!. Place a one pound weight on the ankle and slowly lift the foot from the floor!. Do this ten times and rest!. Repeat this cycle twice more!. Lastly get a 2x4 board of about two feet in length or use a large book such as a dictionary!. Stand with the injured foot parallel to the board or book!. Place that foot on the board and then stand up on the board!. Do that ten times and rest!. Again repeat this cycle twice more!. At the end of these movements place ice on the knee for fifteen to twenty minutes!. The ice routine should be used whenever there is pain!. In a few days to weeks the pain should start to lessen if not go!. If there is still no improvement see a doctor and ask for a referral to physical therapy!. They can do tapings and some biofeedback movements that should correct the problem!. Hopefully the simple movements will do it for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had knee pain at your daughters age, exact same age too, for around a year 12-13 I am now 14 and the knee pain has gone, but my friends also had the same, does your daughter do any kind of dance (specially ballet) that sets it off, look out for lumps on the higher shin on her leg, this is what I have where your shin bone grows too fast and it grows out to the side (extremely painful) I know this is a common thing specially in girls! So look out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

im 15 i have the same problem see your doctor or go to physiotheripy

it sounds like tendinitus thats the same symptoms i had untill i got my insoles and it revilves the pain!.

the pain under the knee is beacuse there is a difference between her feet ( they are not the same) either one is on a slant or mabey both, another possibility is that one leg is slightly shorter than the other!.!.!.!.

so yeh anyway see a doctor, physio, GP you will then find out!.!.

hope its not too serious and she gets better soon

good luck

hope this helps!!

if you need anything eles just email me thnxWww@Answer-Health@Com

There is a condition that teenagers get that affects their legs especially, two of my kids had it!. There doesnt seem to be a cure, or a need for one except for painkillers so they kept telling me!. they are meant to grow out of it as they get older!. However my daughter is 21 now and still suffers badly!. In your daughters case it may not even be this, so Id get her to the docs and get it checked!. Tnis condition has a really long name that I just cant remember!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I will be thirteen in 1 month and i am also experinencing pain like ur daughter!. I went to my doctor and got xrays done and there was no damage!. And hesaid that it is common in teens especially females to experience this when their knees and legs are growing, this is because the knee is growing and such but the lining of the knee has not grown to fit and protect it!. This can be very painful!. If you dont want togo to the doctor then apply heating pads to her knee along with Tyenol or Motrin ( carry these with u when going out), But i would suggest going to a doctor because especially if she plays soccer or field hockey ( sports that put a lot of tension on the knees) because she could have pulled, ripped, or moved something!. That is you best bet!.
Best of luck,

The best advice in your daughter's case is to consult a good physiotherapist!. He will suggest some exercises (for about half hour) which will cure completely!. But be patient for a long period!. No quick fix remedy for this pain which please note!. Warning: No injection in knee nor any 'small' operation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hello there,
This sort of pain is quite common in teenagers and could be one of several things!. The most common is called chondomalacia patellae!. It is not dangerous, but it is best to see the doctor to get some treatment to stop the joint becoming arthritic!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
