I have had the same problem You need to sleep with a pillow in between your legs!. I take somas to relax the muscles and it helps me sleep and wake up feeling better!. I was told to put ice on that side!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I firmly recommend seeing a physiotherapist (Physical Therapist) - to get some exercises!. If someone untrained recommends something, it could actually do you more harm than good!. And you need to be supervised the first couple of times to make sure you're doing them correctly!. They're mainly stretching and slow movements!. An aromatherapist could also gently massage you to give you some relief, but consult a doctor first!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can (personally) recommend some sciatica exercises!.

If you've been in a motor vehicle accident, a bad fall, or have had some type of trauma that has caused the sciatica, you may want to see a physician for an x-ray to rule out a back injury!. If you've already seen your doctor or if you know your sciatica is caused by something like running on a hard surface or too much sitting, here are some good articles!.

Sciatica often involves the piriformis muscle!. If you stretch this muscle, it may "unpinch" the sciatic nerve!.

This article (page down to "Overview: Sciatica Exercises") gives exercises for several different types of sciatca: http://www!.spine-health!.com/wellness/exe!.!.!.

I have occasional sciatica, probably due to compression of my piriformis muscle!. When my insurer refused to pay for an MRI or physical therapy, I put myself on a home exercise program and was pain-free shortly thereafter!.

If your insurer will pay for physical therapy, this is an excellent way to have a professional show you exercises for sciatica!. Physical therapists have master's degrees; some of them even have PhD's!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My wife and I have both suffered from this from time to time, we both take ALEVE for it, and allow the muscles to relax!.

I do some stretching exercises and seem to get over it faster than my wife does without them!.

I lay on my back on the bed and concentrate on relaxing, then raise one leg at a time with the knee bent, straighten the leg and lower it slowly, repeating as many times as is comfortable, usually 2 or 3 times!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have an RX for Physical Therapy!., I've only been going for a couple of days but it has made my pain better by 50%!. Make sure when you find a PT that they do deep tissue massage!. I have been to a PT before that just wanted you to go in and do excercises and charge you losts of moneyWww@Answer-Health@Com
