Question: Does getting an i!.v hurt!?
I am going to the hospitol soon to get a little surgery and i have to get an i!.v!.!.!.does it hurt!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I get an i!.v!. injection every week and believe me it doesn't hurt all that much!. Ask for some EMULA cream that numbs the site of where they will put in the line!. If they say it will take too long then ask for spray that also numbs the area!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
Well not to scare you or anything, but to me, yeah it hurts!. Depends on how well you take pain!. I don't take pain very well!. I can handle needles just fine if I have to get blood drawn, but to get an IV is a bit different!. When they go to give you the IV try to relax!. Don't tense up at all b/c this will cause the vain to blow and they will have to go to another!. I once had them stick me several times before they finally got it!. Stay calm!. The more calm you are the faster they can do their job!. Once the IV is in it doesn't hurt, just feels weird!. Hope your surgery goes well!. Take careWww@Answer-Health@Com
It depends,firstly,on your pain threshold,and secondly,on your veins!. I don't mean to worry you,but:
If you have deep veins,it can be EXTREMLEY painful!. Every time I have to get blood taken,or when I'm going for an operation,or when I go for my treatment,it always takes them AGES to find a vein!. Unfortunately for me,this happens every month,at least!. Sometimes,if you have deep veins,the doctor might have to call an anesthesist to find a vein!. And sometimesthey might have to root for a vein!.
But,if you have good veins,it should be no problemo!! It feels like a little pinch,but a decent pinch!. Once the needle is in,they hook you up to the I!.V!. and you're away with it!! No more pain!!

It COULD hurt, if you have veins that are small or hard to get at!.
Usually, a good nurse can do it with minimal or no pain!.
Just don't worry about it!. It's done something like 10,000 times per day!.!.!. so you don't see people running around saying "Damn, I had this IV put in my arm!.!.!. it hurt like hell"!.!.!.

It feels like a little pinch!. Pinch the inside of your elbow hard and thats what it will feel like!.
