Answers:
As you know, it's the tylenol (apap) that can cause liver damage!.
My doctors recommends no more than 4 grams (4000mg) per day- if you have a healthy liver and do not drink alcohol!.
So that would be no more than 8 Vicodin (5mg/500mg) per day!.

It has been known for some time that acetaminophen (Tylenol?) can cause liver toxicity!. Also, most every MD and pharmacist knows that a chronic dosage over 3,000 mg (3 grams) or about 4 to 6 Vicodin a day may possibly cause liver toxicity!. Unfortunately, many IP patients must take the risk with a daily dosage of acetaminophen over 3,000 mg a day!.

Wikipedia
The toxic dose of paracetamol aka Tylenol is highly variable!. In adults, single doses above 10 grams or 200 mg/kg, which ever is lower, have a reasonable likelihood of causing toxicity!.
Toxicity can also occur when multiple smaller doses within 24 hours exceeds these levels, or even with chronic ingestion of doses as low as 4 g/day, and death with as little as 6 g/day!. In children acute doses above 200 mg/kg could potentially cause toxicity!. However, acute paracetamol overdose in children rarely causes illness or death, and it is very uncommon for them to have levels that require treatment, with chronic supratherapeutic doses being the major cause of toxicity in children!.

In a normal dose of 1 gram of paracetamol four times a day, one-third of patients may have an increase in their liver function tests to three times the normal value!. However, it is unclear as to whether this leads to liver failure!.

Since paracetamol is often included in combination with other drugs, it is important to include all sources of paracetamol when checking a person's dose for toxicity!. In addition to being sold by itself, paracetamol may be included in the formulations of various analgesics and cold/flu remedies as a way to increase the pain-relieving properties of the medication, and sometimes in combination with opioids such as hydrocodone to deter people from using it recreationally or becoming addicted to the opioid substance!. In fact, the human toll of paracetamol, in terms of both fatal overdoses and chronic liver toxicity, likely far exceeds the damage caused by the opioids themselvesWww@Answer-Health@Com

in most cases when taken properly and as prescribed by your doctor it is not toxic on your liver!. however it does contain acetaminophen(tylenol) that in large doses can be damaging to the liver!. depending on the dose it may say hydrocodone/apap 5/500 which means 5mgs of hydrocodone and 500 mg's of tylenol!. the normal dosing for this med is 1 or 2 tabs every 4-6 hours so 3 in one day im sure is fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Three tablets in 24 hours won't hurt a normal adult!. A normal adult can have up to 4000mg of APAP in 24 hours (your tablets contain 500mg each)!. The problem is when the drug is combined with other drugs containing acetaminophen(APAP) or alcohol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
