What's your secret to see the doctor?!

Question: What's your secret to see the doctor!?
My son has had a rash for the last two months and getting a nurse to talk about it over the phone has been a nightmare!. I did take my son to Now Care two weeks ago, but three doctors ho humed over it and came up with a kinda-sorta-we-think-it-might-be diagnosis for impetigo!.

I just want to get my son in to see his pediatrician!. If possible, I would like to reschedule his 1 yr checkup sooner, but the office is so busy that they never offer to see him even if I tell them the rash is getting worse!. For two months I've been getting "you'll have to bring it up at his checkup" from everyone (even the doctors we've seen)!.

I know I can schedule it as soon as Thursday (his birthday is Wednesday, so his age would not be an issue), but the trick is getting the receptionist to do it!.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get them to reschedule my son!? Should I just walk into the office with my son and show them the rash!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Dump the doctor you have and get a new one!. Any time a doctors office is to busy to see your child even if it's a minor thing means that the chance of your child getting good care is cut in half!. I would get out the phone book and look around!. Call and find out if they take your insurance!. After that ask them how they handle emergency issues, even things like a rash!. Your doctors office should have brought you child in ASAP as soon as you told them he had a rash!. "IT's nothing to worry about" comming from a receptionest is BS and even the RN is not allowed by law to diagnose or tell you over the phone (it's nothing to worry about) unless it is seen in person!.
Even if you have state medical coverage or government coverage you have the right to shop around for doctors!. Remeber, they are providing you a service and your job is to interview them!. I gave my primary care doctors team the third degree befor signing on with him and during my first visit I told him what I expected out of him!. Let the doctor know up from you will fire him just as a company would fire a worker for poor performace!. Your insurance is paying him for a service!. WE dont tend to do this anymoe in todays society but a doctors job is to take care of his/her PT's even if that means seeing a PT just to tell you to put lotion on your childs skin!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most rashes in infants (Under one year old), especially with a relatively long duration of 2 months, are usually benign!.

They can also be difficult to diagnose especially if they don't have the specific characterisctics that Drs look for in order to make a definite diagnosis!. Even Dermatologists (Skin specialists) acknowlege this!.

If the Doctors at Now Care really believed that the rash was impetigo your son would have received a prescription for antibiotics which will usually clear this up!.

My guess is: this rash is probably simple eczema!.

If your son is eating, sleeping and playing well without showing any signs of distress, or fever, you could wait until the 1yr check up, of go back to Now Care!.
If not, then go straight to Now Care, or your local Hospital Emergency Room where you will at least see a Nurse or Doctor!.

The rash may now have sufficient characteristics for the Drs to make a diagnosis more easily!.

I hope this helps!.

Good luck :-)Www@Answer-Health@Com
