hi, sorry to hear about yr toe, unfortunately theres not a lot a hospital can do for a broken toe, my son who is 15 has broken his 3 times its just a case of resting and waiting for it to get better!. continue with ice andtry to keep it elevated!. u will probably need some stronger painkillers like paracetamol and codeine or ibuprofen tablets or evenboth, dont o/d on the paraetamol take something stronger, if in doubt about what to take go to pharmacy and ask the pharmacist!. if the nail is black could be the pain is being caused by bleeding under it in which case u will need hospital treament, try to pick a time when u think that the a&e will not be so busy, for ours we usually find early evning a good time or early morning!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

best to get it check by doctor properly so that you know just what has happened, and they could help you with the pain!. Try to to use it (as best you can) for the time being!. Use some tape and tape it to the next toe, to form a splint, and help reduce the movement of it!. Plus do your best not to put pressure on that foot!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you broke it, there's nothing you can do for it anyway!. You'll have to just keep doing what you're doing and maybe get a pair of crutches!.

Might as well wait 4 hours to see the doctor!.!.!.at least they can give you stronger pain killers to help you get through!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

go to the hospital, have a cast put on your foot and your toe looked at to make sure it not twister is some odd way, they may need to pop it back into place!

also you will need to stay off your foot that has been hurtWww@Answer-Health@Com

You need to get it X-rayed to see if it is actually broken, before you can decide on the right treatment!. You may have damaged a tendon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like it may be broken!. Ice occasionally for the first 24 hours to reduce swelling!. Be careful with the pain meds you do not want to overdose!. If you have feel you need pain medication you can go to the doctor but after a day the pain should not be as severe and over the counter drugs should do the trick!. Also dont be surprised if the nail comes loose and falls off over the next few days as this often happens with trauma to a finger or toe!. If it does fall off it should grow back within a month!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It does sound broken if the pain is not going away, A&E departments don't worry much about the smaller toes and won't xray, but will with the big toe, as broken toes can be complicated!. They will want to xray, and if its broken will need to strap the toe to the next toe to form a splint, and they may want to refer you to a fracture clinic for follow-up and to make sure it is healing straight!.

The bruise under your nail is a collection or blood and will need to be drained to release pressure, though if the injury is a few days old it will be too late, so you may find the nail falls off!. But don't worry, if that happens it should grow back!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
