Ingrown toenail with a mass on toe?!

Question: Ingrown toenail with a mass on toe!?
Ive had an ingrown toenail for about 6 weeks!. It's getting worse and finally went to the docs about 2 weeks ago to get antibotics!. It's gotten better about pussing and bleeding everytime I touch it, but now I have a mass that is about an inch long that is growing in the skin area right next to the nail (on the side where the ingrown nail is)!. It bleeds everytime I touch it or bump it!.!.!. Has anyone had this happen before!? I've got to go get my ingrown toenail cut out, but will they cut this off too during the procedure!? Will it hinder my ability for the toenail removal!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You could probably help the situation by soaking your toe in hot salt water!. Just use hot tap water and add a table spoon of salt!. Then soak your toe!.

While doing this, try and gently press the tissue around the ingrown nail away from it!. It may help relieve pain!.

Since you are seeking professional help, I wouldn't worry too much about them being able to remove the nail--they will be!. They may give you a general anesthetic and they may have to remove part of the bump!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't cut your toenails so short, especially on the sides!. It lets your skin grow over them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the doctor will take care of it all!. dont worry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like that is just part of the infection!.

If your doctor didn't mention it, a primary cause in ingrown toenails is that your nail gets too thick and digs into the flesh rather than flexing when you walk!. If you look up the word keystone, it will explain the concept!. You can usually fix this by shaving the nail thin on the top center by dragging the edge of a sharp knife!. Be careful not to go through the nail, just get it flexible!. Don't thin it all the way back, just 2/3 or so of the nail length from the end toward your foot!. If you thin it too far back it will start growing out thicker and cause you do need more thinning!. My doctor showed me this back in the 1980's, and I haven't had an ingrown toenail get out of control since then!. If it gets sore, just thin it down a little and it gets better on its own!.
