It depends on the persons pain threshold, the type of waxing, where you are waxing and the type of wax used!. But as a rule of thumb - yes it will hurt!.
If your friend wants to wax their legs, this will hurt less than say their bikini line as they are less sensitive!. Eyebrows and underarms tend to hurt more if you do it yourself, whereas if you go to a professional salon it will be less painfull!.
I would recommend that if it is your friends first time waxing, that you ring a salon and book an appointment there!. They will tell you how long the hair needs to be, what to wear etc!. They should use cooling gel to help alleviate the pain, wear gloves and have a clean environment with sterilised equipment!.
Failing that home waxing can be a good idea if she just wants to get a feel for it, or practice!. A word of advice, get a friend to pull the wax strips off for you if you are a bit scared!. And make sure you buy some with correction wipes to remove any left over wax!.

It depends on where she wants to get waxed!. The only place i've waxed is my eyebrows, so i cant speak for anywhere else!. But if its the lip, the pubes, etc I'm imagining it hurts, but its better than shaving, tell her NOT to shave ANYWHERE on her face or she'll be getting the five oclock shadow in no time!. Plus, the pain of feeling self concious is way worse than a pain that will last 10 minutes max!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
It depends on the person and area!. Waxing for me is not painful, it's uncomfortable!. I don't like the feeling of the ripping of the wax away from the skin!. The bikini area is not that nice: it hurts a little!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Yes it does!. Some types more than others!. You are ripping hundreds/thousands of hairs out of your body at once!. But after you do it a few times you get used to it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
