How can a runner treat shin splits or sore shins?!

Question: How can a runner treat shin splits or sore shins!?
Answers:
You can treat shin splints with any ointment that causes the skin to warm!. Then tape up your shin(s) with medical adhesive tape!.

Starting at an upward angle ---- and on the inner side of your lower leg: apply the tape in a tight and pulling motion; as if to pull the muscle and tissue to your tibia (shin bone)!.

Try not to run on hard surfaces-especially barefoot!. Wear sturdy and supportive sneakers!. Shin splints can take a long time to heal!. The better you take care of your legs, the sooner you'll heal!. I used to get shin splints from running track on a very hard (almost concrete) track ----and doing back handsprings across the gymnasium floor!.

You need to tape 'em up daily!. Apply a quick absorbing heat-promoting ointment first!.

There is no cure for shin splints; only care and time!.

Ice the area down for fifteen minutes every hour and especially after running!. There are stretches that can be done!. Sit on the heels and lift one knee up as high as it will go!. Hold that position for ten seconds and then do the opposite leg!. Alternate the legs until there have been five done on each leg!. To strengthen the front of the shin, Tibialis Anterior, place the heels on a 2x4 or a large book!. Lift the front of the foot up as high as it will go while maintaining the heel on the board!. Do this ten times per foot!. You can also place an ankle weight across the front of the foot and then lift it up as high as possible while keeping the heel down!. Do three sets of ten repetitions per leg!. Make sure that the shoes being used are good and fit correctly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
