Answers:
A bit about scoliosis!.!.!.
Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person's spine is curved from side to side, and may also be rotated!. It is an abnormal lateral curvature of the spine!. On an x-ray, the spine of an individual with a typical scoliosis may look more like an "S" or a "C" than a straight line!. It is typically classified as congenital (caused by vertebral anomalies present at birth), idiopathic (sub-classified as infantile, juvenile, adolescent, or adult according to when onset occurred) or as having developed as a secondary symptom of another condition, such as cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy or due to something like a car crash!.
Cures:
Recently, new implants have been developed that aim to delay spinal fusion and to allow more spinal growth in young children!. These include rods that are extendible and allow growth while still applying corrective forces and vertebral stapling which is a method of retarding normal growth on the convex side of a curve, allowing the concave side to "catch up!." For the youngest patients, whose thoracic insufficiency compromises their ability to breathe and applies significant cardiac pressure, ribcage implants that push the ribs apart on the concave side of the curve may be especially useful!. These Vertical Expandable Prosthetic Titanium Ribs (VEPTR) provide the benefit of expanding the thoracic cavity and straightening the spine in all three dimensions while allowing the spine to grow!. Although these methods are novel and promising, these treatments are only suitable for growing patients!. Spinal fusion remains the "gold standard" of surgical treatment for scoliosis!. There are now non-surgical ways to help treat scoliosis, as mentioned above in the management section!.
How you can help:
As you're not a doctor, you can't physically help her!. But if your friend is worried, uncertain, or uneasy about the situation, you can try to comfort & support her as much as possible!. Because most scoliosis is very mild, nothing will be done by doctors, unless they see that it may get worse!. Don't me worried, because what good would worrying do!? By the way, scoliosis is becoming very common!. And, if you were your friend, would you want friends to be worrying about something as normal as scoliosis!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Marina, scoliosis is mostly not that big a deal!. Our son has it, and I was scared until he saw a couple of specialists, who assured me that a curvature has to be pretty bad before it's even worth correcting!. Most people whose spinal curve is not corrected have no future problems with it other than cosmetic concerns!. Since our son wears a shirt nearly all the time, it's a problem only his future tailer will have to deal with!. (A good tailor will add a shoulder pad to the low shoulder to make them even!.)

If your friend's curvature is to be corrected, she may be physically uncomfortable sometimes, or feel weird or ugly about wearing the brace or other corrective device!. The best thing you can do to help her is to be her friend!. Listen when she needs to complain or worry, and assure her that she's still just fine, that people who judge her negatively over something like this are idiots, so who cares what they think!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have her family take her to a doctor and ask for a referral to a physical therapist!. They will be able to help with increasing the strength of the musculature to stop advancement of the curves!. There are also exercises for elongation of the muscles and that will take some of the pain away!. If she has the opportunity simply hang from a chinning bar and that will help to elongate the spine!. See a therapist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
