Answers:
no he should not be allowed to go swimming!. you should keep your son at a constant body temperature!. dont change the temperature in his surroundings so that he heals faster!. swimming will change the temperature in his surroundings!. my little sister had tonsilitis and we went through the same thing with our pediatrician!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If he has been on the medication at least for 24 hours, AND he has absolutely no fever (careful, if he is on Tylenol a fever can be masked, so take his temp before you give it to him), it is OK for him to go swimming!. Before that, the risk is mostly him getting chilled from the pool water if he is feverish (and he may get sicker) and also spreading the germs to other children (it is contagious)!. Most of the doctors here tell that to parents, being on medication for 24 hours and no fever, he is not contagious and it would be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I do not feel it is fair to allow him to go swimming!. Even if the pool is heated - his body will still chill some and he has enough to cope with - having an infection and all!. It is also not fair on the others using the pool as tonsillitis can be infectious!. He can also pick up more infection because his immune system is already compromised, otherwise he would not be needing medication!. Sorry auntie I do not agree with you!. I do hope that common sense will prevail in this case and he stays home - most swim schools allow for catch up lessons anyway or at least they do where I live!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It probably wouldn't do him much harm but i don't think its a good idea!.

Pools have all sorts of bacteria in them that when swallowed can irritate the already inflamed tonsils as well as pose a greater threat for other infections!. This is because tonsilitis is a sign the immune system is already weakened!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hopefully he is swimming in an inside pool, most antibiotics say to stay out of the sun!. He can have a really bad reaction to sun from the meds!.!.!.as far as swimming I think it would depend on how severe his tonsilitis is, or if he has a fever etc!.!.kids bounce back from things pretty quickly!. Personally I dont think I would let my child swim under the circumstances!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

He should be ok to go swimming, but watch to see if he's getting tired easily, getting pale, etc!. Also, some medications can cause you to get burned easily, so make sure he has plenty of suscreen! Make sure he gets a lot of water too!Www@Answer-Health@Com

ya just be sure to have sunscreen watch him for palnes and and make sure you can see him becasue if u dont he could wander off and he could get really sicker if he get to much heatWww@Answer-Health@Com
