Pain is different for each person, and the moral code of conduct in medicine is to treat the pain as the patient perceives it!.!.!. That said, they may prescribe another week, and if you are still in dire pain after that, then they may put you in physical therapy or try an injection to help ease your suffering!.

Each doctor is different, so placing the call you did will at least get you through the next few days, likely with more meds!.!.!.beyond that, they'll probably explore different options!.

You didn't say how you hurt yourself!.!.!.poor thing, it sounds miserable!

Oh Heather, I tried to email you, but you don't have that option on in your profile!.

Caring for the children must certainly be adding to your ability to truly rest & relax after surgery!.

Do you have anyone who can come stay with you, so that you can just lock yourself in your room and sleep!?

Are you using ice to reduce swelling!? I know it feels awful when first applied, but it can do wonders to help your pain!.

*I* haven't personally had that surgery, but I have taken care of patients in the hospital who have had it!.

The Duragesic patch, which contains Fentanyl (an opioid narcotic), isn't usually recommended for use immediately following surgery, but since it's been a while now, you might ask your doctor if you are a candidate for it!. It provides continuous administration of the medication in to your system, and helps people become more mobile, which in turn can help the healing process in those who aren't recovering as quickly as a physician might expect!.

That's my only suggestion: http://www!.duragesic!.com/duragesic/Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on the Dr!. You should really make an appointment and go talk to them!. Taking Oxy!. for more than a week or two will most probably get you very accustomed to it and raise your tolerance quickly!. It's a highly addicting drug that will get you hooked before you know it!.

If you're still in pain, see your doctor right away, don't come to Yahoo Answers for help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In my expierience with surgery and pain medication, they generally don't keep you on it for too long!. With oxycodone, which is a very strong narcotic, they may give you one more prescription, but if you are still in that kind of pain, I would ask them to take a look to make sure nothing is really wrong you know!. After the oxycodone, they may drop your meds to something that isn't as strong, or they may just drop your dosage!. I haven't had the type of surgery you did, so I'm not sure as to what the pain level may be there or even what it should be!. Just explain to the doctor that you are still in pain, that you don't have enough meds left and that you are taking them as prescribed!. I'm sure the doctor will give you something!. If not, go to the emergency room and explain everything to them, see what they say!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
