If you are dealing with a strain, a homeopathic remedy called Arnica montana is your best bet to play tonight without doing further damage!. Keep the remedy in your pocket, and redose as needed through the game, and over the next few days as needed!. (Natural food stores and some grocery chains carry it!.)
Combined with basic first-aid (icing, bandaging), homeopathy has saved gym meets for my daughter, and softball games for me! Have fun!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Pending on how bad it is, icy-hot could help make it feel better during the game, but won't heal the muscle!.
After injury - RICE - rest, ice, compression, elevation!.
So ice it now, put on icy-hot before game (wash hand afterwards so you don't wipe it in your eyes)!.
Ice it down after the game (20 min with ice/ 20 minutes off - repeat often)Www@Answer-Health@Com

You always have to warm up at a short distance for a while before you go to long distance!. It cost me my whole baseball season this year because I got tendonitus!. The best thing to do is put arnica on it!. It's expensive but it really does work!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
