The correct term is congestive heart failure!.
Doctor will hopefully take her blood-pressure,and listen to her heart with a stethescope!.
Take blood for testing!.
Weigh her!.
Give her a prescription for diuretic tablets to get rid of the oedema!.

Later after results come back he may prescribe pills to lower blood pressure etc!.

She has to cut out all salty food!.

Get her to elevate her legs while sitting and if possible wear support tights or Tubigrip bandages(at least indoors)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Use the link below as a starting point!.

Dropsy = ""Edema" is often more prominent in the lower legs and feet toward the end of the day as a result of pooling of fluid from the upright position usually maintained during the day!. Upon awakening from sleeping, people can have swelling around the eyes referred to as periorbital edema!."Www@Answer-Health@Com

what the hell is dropsy!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is an old fashioned term for oedema
A dropsical patients diet should ordinarily be free from salt, because salt in the body always leads to retention of fluid for the reason that there must be fluid to keep it dissolved!. A person who eats salt becomes thirsty because there is a demand for fluid to take care of the salt!.

Dropsical patients ordinarily have weak kidneys kidneys deficient in their power of carrying off salt!. The reduction of the amount of salt gives the kidneys a better chance to function and bring about a natural recovery from dropsy!. Of course this process is slow!. Diuretics are usually prescribed!.
Leg elevation and compression (stockings) regular monitoring of BP is also advisable!.
Your wife really needs to see a Dr, so this can be correctly diagnosed and treated accordingly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
