You can check my profile, but I am a Substance Abuse Counselor and the fastest growing addiction is prescribed pain medication!.!.!. Usually it's being prescribed by a General Pract!. Doctor, that have little knowledge of addictions!. The best place to go for pain management is to a Pain Managment Doctor who has a lot of knowledge about the need to switch medication, before you are addicted!.
You don't say how much you use a day, but you can talk to your doctor and start cutting it back say one tablet a day for 3 days, then another tablet a day for 3-5 days and keep track of how you're feeling!. Watch for diarrhea and take Immodeum or Kaopectate for that, and Tylenol for headaches!. I would start detoxing when you have a couple of days off and try to set the cut back on pills for days off!. Watch what you eat, no diary, or spicey food while cutting back!.
I would also start attending some type of 12 Step support group and do not turn to alcohol to help with detox symptoms!. Some detox symptoms have to be experienced or get the doctor to decrease or change the type of pain medication he's giving you!.
If I can help you please feel freee to look up my e-mail address!. God Bless You!. But remember, sometimes depending on the type of pain, pain pills are needed!. Have you considered outpatient substance abuse treatment-many are on sliding scale!.
The other thing you could discuss with a doctor is a time released pain medication that will help with your pain, but you will not experience the mood swings from the medication level drop and have to take more and moreWww@Answer-Health@Com

I think the most important thing to do is have a discussion with your doctor so that you can be monitored and supported through the process!.!.!. The best way to come off of pain medication is to decrease the dosage by 10% each week until you are eventually off of them completely!.

Many people with addiction (vs!. dependence) need something like Suboxone or Buprenephrine, which are both medications designed to help people with narcotic addiction, get off of them!. If this is something you think you'll need, you definitely need to talk to your doctor - doctors who prescribe them have to be certified in the program and often patients have to begin the program in a specialized clinic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go and see you doctor, they can help you reduce the painkillers slowly possibly giving you something milder until you are able to come of them altogether!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi,you need to see your doctor he should refer you to a specalist!.maybe councilling can be arranged for a night
or times to suit you!.
Good LuckWww@Answer-Health@Com
