You may very well lose the nail, but it will grow back, not surprising that it hurts!. As for infection, keep it covered and clean and it shouldn't!. Then stay away from big knives when you are 'drink'!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You have just cut yourself with a dirty knife!. I'd say the chances of it turning septic on you are about 100%!. Put the knife down and go and wash your hands really well!. Then put some antiseptic cream on your finger, (eg!. Germoline or Savlon) then put an Elastoplast on it!. Check it again in the morning when your head feels better, and if it doesn't look yellow and pus-y, do the whole cream and plaster routine again!. If it's looking a funny colour, trot along to your family doctor, you may need antibiotics!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

'I'm just drink' hehe, likewise!. I almost lost my thumb nail a few weeks ago, it snapped really far down about 5mm on each side, I put a plaster around it and left it for a few days, healed pretty quickely!. I'd clean it well and bandage it up!. If it's snapped comepletely I'd do the same, though I'm no expert!.

You probably will not lose the nail, but your finger tip will be awfully painful until the nail can grow out!. I did nearly the same thing!. Keep the finger tip clean and protected!. You may want to get a finger splint at the drug store because you will feel that finger tip every time you touch something!. Use some sort of antibiotic ointment and keep the area clean and covered!. I once sliced my finger nails off too showing off to the waitresses, and besides feeling sick to the stomach, and in fuc*ing agony, there is no real danger!. It'll be sore for about a week, keep it covered but with lint free dressing, and not too tight

You should have it seen by a doctor (possible fish poisoning, something butchers occasionally get), and even though it probably hurts like hell, if you keep it clean and dressed, is should regrow and be ok!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
