If you are wondering what a tonsillectomy entails, the procedure is pretty quick and fairly painless!. My 6yr old just had her's out this spring and she recouped completey in a couple of weeks!. The anisthetics are what cause a lot of problems when first coming out of surgery because you will be disoriented!. Drink a lot of cold liquids as this will do two things: 1) the cold will help to constrict the blood vessels going to the tender area and therefore reduce the amount of bledding 2) the water will help the body to heal itself and keep any infections from occuring!.
