What is the difference between the two!?!? I know they are pain killers precribed by a doctor!. Why are they abused "on the street!?" What do they get from taking a pain killer!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The issue is this!. Oxycontin is a larger dosage of the same drug, specially formulated so that it is time-released (dosage lasts 12 hours, typically)!. This long action is really helpful to people in constant (chronic) pain, because then they're not getting relief and then no relief all day, or having to take a pill every 2-4 hours!. Some people are prescribed both, taking one Oxycontin every 8-12 hours and some oxycodone for 'breakthrough' pain (which is pain that is felt too extremely during those same 8-12 hours)!.
On the street, Oxycontin is crushed, releasing all of the larger dosage at once!. This then causes a narcotic 'high' similar to that of heroin - makes you very relaxed, sleepy, noddy!. A big problem is when people who try this for the first time on the street don't realize how powerful a drug this is, they take too much and die (stop breathing)!. Really, pretty damn stupid!. People that take this drug as prescribed are started at a very small dosage and that dosage is increased only when it's no longer effective!. This problem makes a very useful drug for chronic pain very hard to get, because idiots abuse it!. (I know, I used it properly for 5 years, and lots of doctors and hospitals and pharmacists don't understand the proper treatment of chronic pain and freak out when they hear the word 'Oxycontin'!.)

as for why - because it kills pain (physical and emotional), causes the person to feel relaxed, calm and generally in a good mood, and makes their body feel nice all over!.

Oxycontin is a longer acting pain killer for the same type of pain but is also used for chronic pain!.
