How do I know if my pierced ear is infected?!

Question: How do I know if my pierced ear is infected!?
I got it pierced 19 days ago, and it kinda looked like it was being sucked into the ear last night, but then my mom loosened it, and it looks better today!. Last night I pushed on the back so I could see under the front kind of (really hard to explain sorry!) and a bit of liquid came out!. I don't know if it was some of the cleaner that I use to clean it (I got it at Claire's when I got them pierced) or if it was like, body fluids or something!. Also around the earring there is some stuff that looks like dry skin!. Someone help! (Also, is it ok for me to swim in a pool today if it is infected!?) Thanks! :DWww@Answer-Health@Com

you would know that your ear is infected if it starts to itch, bleed, and turn colors, and throb with a lot of pain!. since you have barely gotten your ears pierced it is normal that the skin would swell for about 3-4 weeks!. yes, keep the ear studs loose until the swelling completely goes down!. you should be able to rotate them freely!. it is normal that clear liquid will come out!. if you see blood (seeping out) then that also means you have an infection!. the liquid coming out indicates that your skin is still going through the healing process!. the dry skin could be from the rubbing alcohol or whatever else you use to sanitize your ear piercings!. just keep the area clean!. once on the morning and once at night is fine!. too much will zap out the natural oil of your skin and cause it to itch and flake!. you would know if your skin is infected because it will hurt to the point where you'd want to take the earring out!. also the skin will turn dark in the infected area!. if you went swimming and didn't notice these symptoms, i doubt that you have an infection!. since you've got the piercings done at claire's, i'm sure a professional was used along with a sanitized gun!. usually infections happen when a person tries to pierce themselves and they don't know what they're doing and if the instruments weren't properly sanitized!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the dry skin should be fine, if your ear hurts and gets a little red then it has become infected!. if i where you i would just continues to put the cleaner stuff on it, and it your ear still hurts then go to target, or someplace, and get some different cleaner, anything beyond that go see a doc!. o and swimming should be fine while waring earrings, just put a little lotion on your ear, =)Www@Answer-Health@Com

well if it is reddish-pinkish and has dry skin then i would say it is and you should leave your earring out for a little while until it gets better!. also rub the alcohol they gave you on your ear!. your ear might close up but its better than having an infected ear and have to go to te hospital!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you will get bumps on it!. It will become red and prickly!. A substance called puss may oose out of it!. it will have a strange smell to it!. Btw everybody gets dry skin when the get it periced !. thts normal!. but just to be on the safe side i would say go to the docter before it gets worse!. If you dont then u could have a permanent bump on your ear!
good luckkkWww@Answer-Health@Com

Ask yourself these questions: Is it itchy!? Painful!? Swelled up!? Is there any pus!? Can you touch it without it hurting!? If you answer yes to any of these, you may have a little infection!. If no, then it's just part of the natural healing process!. Call Claire's and ask if it's ok to go swimming today!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i think it is ok to go swimming, when u get out pour some peroxide into the lid of a water bottle and just let the piercing soak in that for a while!. if it bubbles and fizzes a lot, it is probably infected!. if not dont worry about!. good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

it will swell up and get inflamed and red and hurt a little the liquid that came out of your ear might have been pus and the dry skin might just be dead skin so i would get it checked outWww@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds infected your either allergic or you dont clean it enough!. They should of given you soultion for your ear, wipe it with a swap and dont wear them to tight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it is infected !. apply antiseptic solution regularly!. take antibiotics like ciprofloxacin, or norfloxacin 3 times a day for 2 days !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i had the same problem!. no it's not infected!. i just can't seem to loosen mines up because the back always comes off!. but no it's ok!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Pierced at Claire's!? Infected!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it wil sweal upWww@Answer-Health@Com

Is it red!?!? If it is infected it should be red!. The liquid may have been pus!.!.!. which would be signs of an infection because puss is all of your dead white blood cells (those are the ones that fight infection)!. If it was clear it may have just been a normal discharge!. You should go to your Dr!. and have them look at it!. Just to be sure!.!.!. and I would recommend not going to places like Claires to get your ears pierced!. Using guns to pierce things is really not safe!. It carries infection risk, and also, using a gun creates alot more tissue damage because of the speed that it goes through!. Find a professional body piercer that uses a good ole needle!. Thats the way to go!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

your ear pierced is def infected adn teh reddish clor is the main sign that shows it is!.!.!. my best advice would be to buy an over the counter antibiotic cream as Polysporin!.

Cleanse w/water under pressure

Apply a thin layer of the antibiotic ointment to the wound

Keep the wound covered with a clean, dry dressing!. Change the dressing everyday!. Keep the dressing from becoming saturated with water as it will cause the wound to become macerated and heal more slowly!. Also, wounds that are left open to air will dry out and heal more slowly!.

If you're allergic to the adhesive used in most bandages, try adhesive-free dressings or use sterile gauze pads held in place with paper tape, gauze roll or a loosely applied elastic bandage!.

Follow this and youll c how fast that will heal!.!.!. trust me!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No don't swim with an infected ear!.
Stop touching and fussing with it by pushing it back, you're only making it worse!.

I I'm sorry to say but you shouldn't have gone to claires and got it done with a gun http://wiki!.bmezine!.com/index!.php/Gun
because a good piercing would have went over all of this with you!.

You should not be twisting you piercings, this is shoddy advice that people from Claires and Piercing Pagoda!. It dislodges healing tissue and irritates the healing process the friction is bad!.

Throw out that crap stuff from claires, go get get some STERILE SALINE WOUND WASH in the spray i get mine at CVS!.!.!.!.You should NOT be using hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, neosprorin, bactine, betadine, idodine etc on your piercing all of that is far too harsh!.

If you must use soap use Provon, silk, or tattoo goo soap!. they are gentle!.

If you must swim, try and keep it dry, or rinse it well with distilled water after!.

Always do Salt soaks http://wiki!.bmezine!.com/index!.php/Salt_w!.!.!.

If cartilage becomes infected or peirced wrong (ie witha gun) you can get Ear collaspse http://wiki!.bmezine!.com/index!.php/Ear_Co!.!.!.

the dry skin you are talking about is http://wiki!.bmezine!.com/index!.php/Crusti!.!.!.
Peircings studs create so many problems!.
http://wiki!.bmezine!.com/index!.php/Pierci!.!.!.
They are too dull and they trap bacteria!.
http://wiki!.bmezine!.com/index!.php/Ear_Pi!.!.!.

Do not use alcohol, peroxide, Neosporin, betadine, bactine, etc!.

Those products are overly strong and drying, and they kill off the healthy cells your body needs to heal!. Antibiotic ointments (i!.e!. Neosporin) do not allow for proper air circulation, and they form a sticky residue that easily attracts particles and in which bacteria can grow once the short lived antibiotic properties of the ointment are gone!. Ointments do not wash off so you end up washing the ointment instead of your new piercing!.

Edit:
Read the links I gave YOU! Thats why its bad!.
A piercing gun, traditionally used by mall stores for piercing ears, is typically inappropriate for piercing of any kind!. Almost all medical professionals agree that piercing guns cannot be adequately sterilized (an alcohol wipe is NOT sterilization); this means that they are capable of passing hepatitis and other diseases!.

In addition, experience has taught the industry that:

Ear piercing studs are dull and tear through the body, causing unnecessary pain, healing duration, and other possible complications!.
Ear piercing guns are inaccurate and not designed for piercing most body parts, resulting in improper piercing placement!.
Ear piercing studs are the wrong size and too short for most piercings!. The small gauge (generally 20g) and short length are not optimal for healing!.
Any "piercer" using a piercing gun should be avoided!.
The people who work at Claires are NOT professionals!. They are kids with a mall job!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
