Question: Giving Up Smoking!.!.!.!.!.!.help with how to cope methods!?
Ok so I'm giving up smoking - went and got my patches today - it's taken me a long time to get to this but I've done it!. Now I need some tips on what to do instead of having a cigarette!. I've been ok today - I had a smoke this morning - put the patch on and drove to work!. I found it really hard in the car as that's when I generally smoke the most, what can I do to take my mind off having a cigarette - it's not that there's a craving for it - now it's just a force of habbit more than anything!.
Also I would love to hear from ppl that have successfully given up using patches - how long it took did they have any side effects ie!. putting on weight etc!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

First off congrats on wanting to quit that is the first step right there!. They say that keeping your hands busy helps out to like chew on tooth picks, straws, baby carrots, anything that is a finger food!. Try carrying around a stress ball too!. If you get a really bad craving just do some exercise or run until it passes and it will pass!. Good luck on everything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Congrats for kicking out the "cigi" out of your life!. I am truly happy for you!. Why don't you travel by train for sometime!? Make sure you are strong enough to survive the temptation before you travel in your car!. Clean you car thoroughly and probably apply some fresher to remove all the little airy traces of your old habit!. Put some happy music/FM next time when you drive so that you don't think of smoking next time when you are on the car!. Try slowly!. It's just the matter of discipline!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Besides the nicotine addiction, smoking is also associated with hand-to-mouth movements!. My suggestion is find something to do with your hands!. You can also suck on a sucker, it will mimic putting a cigarette to your lips!. If you don't like candy try chewing on a straw!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the best way i heard is to ask for zyban drug and use it with the patch,warning:you will get bad side-effects if you try to smoke a cig when on both,you understand that you have no choice except to not to have a cigWww@Answer-Health@Com

My cousin stopped smoking from the patch with no side effects!.!.!. other than a healthier him! It is really hard!.!.!. but you just need people to be there for you!.!.!. is there any way that maybe you can start car-pooling with people more often, so instead of thinking about smoking!.!.!. you are talking to someone!.!.!. and saving our Earth!

When I got my girlfriend pregnant, I knew I needed to quit but tomorrow is always a better day to do it!. You know how that goes though!. One day, after more than 10 years of smoking, I just quit!. I started the patch immediately!. I found that it did not help with my cravings, but it did make me a lot less of a ********!. After the first day, while I was still pumped about it, I started doing all the things that made me want to smoke A LOT!. I went out drinking a bunch!. I drove a lot!. I drank a bunch of coffee!. I just got used to doing those things while not smoking before I lost my motivation!. I haven't had a smoke in a little over two years now!. I won't lie and tell you that I still don't want a smoke EVERY SINGLE DAY because, as we both know, cigarettes are awesome!. I think, in the end, you just have to decide to quit and have the will power to do it!. For me, the patch just kept me from hating everyone around me!. The only side-effect I had from it was some crazy *** dreams!. That was actually kind of entertaining though!. By the time I reached the end of that first box of patches, I was able to stop using those also without too much pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
