Answers:
It seems the more the taxpayer forks out in benefits for this condition, more kids are being diagnosed with this condition!.
There was an article in one newspaper the other day which suggests that top doctors do not beleive this condition exists!.
It would be interesting to see how this affects other countries across europe, or even the World for that matter!.
It may then appear to be a case of 'The higher the financial benefit, the more likely the kids will have ADHD'Www@Answer-Health@Com

ADHD is a real condition the reason more and more children are having it is because it is highly heritable!. There is medication and treatment that can help maintain the deficit!. I personally don't believe any parent would use it as an excuse over their child!.
I agree that if children do get away with things its to do with the parenting however i don't believe this has anything to do with using ADHD as an excuse and if people are using it as an excuse then i don't know what the worlds coming to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

As a former teacher who has had ADD and ADHD students in my classroom, I think it's real, but unfortunately it is very often misdiagnosed!. Some children are just hyperactive, which is normal when they are at a certain age, specially boys, and it does not necessarily mean that they have ADHD, it just means that as teachers and parents, we need to get them to exert more energy through participating in sport teams, etc!. instead of sitting watching TV or playing computer games all day!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is a real condition, however, plenty of parents claim that their kids have it to cover for bad behaviour!. One of my best friends was guilty of this - her son was hyperactive and rather than control colouring in his diet it was easier to try and say he had ADHD!.

My brother was diagnosed with ADHD when he was about 5 - he's now 18!. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain which, amongst other things, means that if a child is praised, they don't get the same feel good factor the rest of us do!.

He was obviously hyperactive from a young age, but despite cutting out colouring from his diet his bad behaviour continued!. Another symptom of ADHD which he showed was not having any fear!. Aged 3 he set fire to his older brother's bed, with my older brother in it, and then put the fire out!. He couldn't concentrate on anything for more than 5 minutes - if watching a kids programme he'd lose interest and never watch any of them all the way through!. It would often take him weeks before he'd watch a video all the way through in many sittings!.

When he started school he was very disruptive, wanting to go from one activity to another to another!. When he was diagnosed, after a number of hospital visits and tests, and prescribed ritalin even our own GP told my mum it was a load of nonsense and he didn't believe in it!. However, once my brother started the medication the difference was amazing - within weeks his teachers were commenting on the change in him!.

The ritalin prescribed is a stimulant - speed - and if prescribed to children who don't have the chemical imbalance, imagine what it would do to them!. So, contrary to many people's belief, it is not doping them up!

My mum tried many times over the years to control my brother's ADHD without ritalin, but it really was the only way that he could function!. When combined with the Omega3 supplement Eye-Q he improved more, and then when my mum added a zinc supplement to his diet the difference was amazing!. Sadly by then my brother was 15 and his school had practically given up on him - I think at that age he struggled to control the combined effect of being a hormonal teenage boy with the ADHD!. A few days after he started taking the zinc he came home from school and said that for the first time, in his maths class, he'd actually realised he was quite intelligent!. In his words he said that usually he found it all a bit fuzzy, but that it had actually begun to make sense!.

So to anybody who doesn't understand ADHD or doesn't have any personal contact with someone medically diagnosed, I'd say look up all the facts before you start claiming that it is just an excuse for bad behaviour!. In some cases it probably is, but in others it is a very real condition!. And the reason that you find more and more children are actually medically diagnosed now is because people are beginning to understand the condition more!. It is more than likely that my brother's dad (my step dad) was ADHD - he still shows some symptoms now - but the condition wasn't known about when he was a child!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bad parenting does not cause ADHD!. It's a disorder that has a biological origin!. More and more kids have Autism, too!. (Not caused by bad parenting, either)
It seems like there are more kids with it, but the truth is we now know how to diagnose it better than before!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, it's not real!. Once parents found out it was easier to subdue their children than to discipline them, they all started claiming their children were ADD!. Also, adult ADD is just as equally not real!. The whole idea that control of one's own attention is!.!.!. ooh look, a butterfly!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is real but people undiagnosed go around saying they have it!. much like dyslexia and OCD it's just more recognised and because of that people say they have it when they don't!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

its a bit of both
if u let children get away with murder then they will
once children find that they have weak parents then they become experts in their tantrums and they cant control their anger if things dont go in their favourWww@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe =/!. I can't focus in school no matter how hard I try!. Better to try to focus then having to take drugs for it in my opinion!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
