Soma (carisoprodol) is a skeletal muscle relaxant!. It is prescribed mainly for back pain and spasm!. Interestingly, it is transformed by the liver to another drug, Miltown (meprobamate)!. This was a tranquilizer that was popular before Valium came along!. I know all this because I have an inoperable back injury that causes my back to stiffen up like a board, and I take Soma for it!.
